The old saying 'IF IT AINT BROKEN - DONT FIX IT' springs to mind on this to be honest. Not everyone is a computer genius with state of the art PC's and PC skills - now that it's broken can someone now FIX IT - the comittee may need to realise that they may loose members over this - me included.

Easy access and people friendly should be put first

the rides section going doesn't mean the forum no longer works Chris. its the same forum just looks different so not quite sure why a few people are saying about how computer illiterate they are and that they cant seem to use it?, the main features are still in the same place, the look has changed, But you can still post, the edit buttons are in the same location, the threads are in the same locations, all the threads are there.

the only significant changes at the moment are, no user feed back, no rides section.

there is a blog area if you really want to stick a blog that shows your ride that's accessible from your user CP, all your photos from your boot install is there, in the old thread it was in, so to be honest bud, i really don't know why your making such a fuss.

its been 2 days and to be honest as with any forum change that changes from a very old version to a new version of the same software, it can take a while to iron out the bugs associated with the update.

im with you chris . i aint got a bloody clue with this new lay out . bring back the old one

cheerz andy mate, i am glad someone aggrees with me tooooooooooooo

Have to say i'm not a fan at the moment. Can't really see what benefits it brings.

I don't like it much prefered it before and don't understand how this is better.Mojority seem to like it though.

i think its time for some constructive criticism here, what exactly is it that you do not like? apart from the colour change from blue / blue to blue / white. im struggling to see how people are finding it hard to navigate? the forum lay out is the same. nothing has changed there.

the selling section is still where it was. you post and ask questions in the same way, when you click on zed related, the posts are in the same lay out? instead of just saying "i dont like it" state why?

We have lost just 2 functions / slight colour change, it looks prettier, there are still a few things that need to be addressed, but they are on hold until major bugs are ironed out or rear there head then ironed out.

For me i think it looks pale and washed out, dont get me wrong im sure it will grow on me .Serious question i have heard people say this site needs mordernising what are the improvements over the old layout?

instead of just saying "i dont like it" state why?

1) The layout maybe hasn't changed but it seems more difficult to navigate (to the eye) perhaps because the seperation between posts is less defined

2) Rides has gone

3) Looks more modern but overly bright and wishy washy

4) Rides has gone

5) Sometime the headings at the top (New Posts, Private Messages) along the top banner disappear when navigating to page 2

6) Rides has gone

7) When viewing on my iphone earlier the person who posted the message was larger than the subject in the results page making navigation tricky

8) Rides has gone

9) What benefits does the upgrade bring

Unless i've missed it (although i'm on here a lot) there was no mention that this upgrade was planned. Perhaps a notice that the upgrade was planned in a weeks time with the following benefits and detriments would have been nice. This would have given me the opportunity to preserve the info in my rides.

At the moment it's a case of if it ain't broken leave well alone.

As a side note this does not take away from the people who put their time into maintaining the forum and indeed carrying out the upgrade. Your continued work is much appreciated.

Is Rides gone? pmsl

i like the new heading its more sophisticated. i think where it comes up on the right the newest posts...think thats abit too, too much. bit confusing, and of course the rides section is an issue i spose, cant see your wheels ian haha, oh and why Adrian flux is still bein advertised is beyond me lol, theyre astronomical! i can only think that they must be paying for it lol.

Aside from that i quite like the new look, im gona give it time to have the creases ironed out for sure, before i start moaning anyway lol

I must say I'm very surprised by the negative attitude of some members on here!

We needed to bring this club into the current decade rather than being left behind.

The only reason that the committee hasn't done this upgrade before today is

that we didn't have an available member that could firstly commit his personal

time to do the upgrade then in the aftermath to support and fix any issues.

Now I'm very aware of what major functions do and do not work and some of

these function we're disabled as they simply do not function with vBulletin v4.

One such function is the iTrader module which when looking for the most up to

date version I discovered the developer actually died over 4 years ago.

The other unfortunate module effected by the v4 upgrade is the rides section;

this also is currently incompatible and when enabled does more harm than good.

Now all is not lost as I'm a developer and i will be looking into a way to move the

old rides section into the current user gallery, along with any comments. It all

just takes time which I've currently been using to fix other style issues that are

more pressing to fix than a few comments on a picture or two.

For the mean time I hope that you all can bear with us and if you have an issue

that has not already been discussed please start a separate thread in the new

forum issue tracker.

wouldn't effect you anyway being a registered user you wouldn't gain access to the rides section had it still been here. it was part of being subscribed.

I HAD a rides section when I was subscribed all of two days ago, so who says I wasn't going to re-subscribe? I don't see why you'd get shirty with me that my subscription expired yesterday? As for the post, it was a joke, because PhilP added it as every other reason to his list of reasons he wasn't impressed, nothing more. lol

Personally, when I saw that we were being upgrade it did bother me a bit as I'm a creature of habit. But I find the new look very refreshing, far more modern and a pleasure to use. Lee has done a great job migrating us into the modern age and is fixing all the little problems like a firefighter. He's giving up his own time to do this and I think he should be praised for it.

Yes there are teething issue but a little patience and they will be sorted out. I'm sure.

So all in Your doing a great job Lee :thumbup1:

Thanks buddy,

+1 on the new reputation system for you !

To be perfectly honest, I feel for Lee, probably more than most. Upgrading software is always a pain, but with forums it's extra painful.

The forum software is separate from the template, yet any mods you install are of course built into the template, otherwise they wouldn't show up. When you upgrade from v3 to v4 of vBulletin, you lose the template you had and unfortunately, most of the time, the original developer didn't make one for the next version up, or at least not the same one. Add that to the fact that v4 was a MASSIVE overhaul on the part of vBulletin themselves and operates in a completely different way to v3, you've got yourself a big old mess to deal with.

Perhaps someones suggestion above, that there could have been a bit more notice and possibly a note about what was going to be lost, could have been done, but at the end of it all, it's just a forum, the rides thing I can see upsetting those who spent lots of time and effort on them, but I have no doubt Lee will do his best to migrate that data in to the new gallery as he's said and although that may take time, one way or another I'm sure he'll come through ;)

Always so quick to jump the gun mate, you seem strung out all the time go relax, play your favorite game or something. how am i being shirty with you? i was actually stating a fact that due to you no longer being subscribed you WOULD NOT have had access to it had it still been with us.

Even if you are aware of that, new people may not be.

Yeah, my post was a joke, immediately below a post that made it obviously a joke.

It's easy now for you to say that's not what you meant and that I'm the one on edge, but there was no need for your comment, whether it's part of being subscribed or not, that post was both of the nature and tone of "shut up it doesn't affect you anyway, peasant!"

Just so you know, since you and various other people on here seem to think I'm highly strung, I'm smiling, as indicated by the smiley on the end of that line above and this one, as I was when I wrote my original post, and as I was when I wrote the post to you about being shirty, and as I have been all night dotting around the various forums, so ner ners
