As title really, know there are many threads about each. But im wondering, for the occasional trackday and general spirited driving and a highly modded engine, which is best suited. My car has full interior, dont want an oil can in a footwell or anything in the boot. Wana keep what practicality it has.

So things i wana compare:

Cost of each.

Ease of use/servicing, i like regular servicing and dont want it to be 8 litres at a time.

How good each is at doing there job of protecting from oil starvation.

Availability.

And anything anyone wants to add.

any advice welcome.

thanks in advance.

accu systems are a good "get out of jail free" card but, if you go round that second hard corner and the system is in the process of charging then, there's no protection.

my advice would be a larger baffled sump if you dont want to dyr sump it. maybe even an accu system on top of the larger sump to keep it all in check ;)

Ah, never thought of that. Can it not work part charged. To be honest, have favoued the baffled sump option for simplicity aswel. have done a few trackdays with no problems already, probably due to the massive oil cooler keeping things flowing. If oil flows in that direction that is.

cheers though, keep it coming.

the size of the cooler won't affect the way the oil sloshes around in the sump.

you can set the pressure relief valve to open when ever but, then, whats the point of having a 3 quart bottle if you're only going to use 1.5 quarts of oil that won't lube the internals sufficiantly?? also, time is not a luxury you have on track to sit around waiting, wondering and hoping your system will discharge enough in time for the next deadly right hander. the simplest, cheapest, tried and tested method IMO would still have to be a larger sump.

I just thought that if the cooler was upstream of the sump and was massive, then it would hold just enough to keep supply going untill the bend was over. But im only guessing there. So the sumps looking like the one.

Bigger the bette? and more baffled the better i assume?

This is the only one I could find after a quick look

https://specialtyz.com/shop/sz-vg30de-tt-oil-pan.html

It says it holds 6 quarts which is about 6.8 litres. Quite expensive by the time you have paid for shipping and duty if it's marked as full price on the customs docket.

Here is a thread I was reading the other day by someone who has installed an accusump setup. http://www.zxclub.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=9187&hilit=accusump The thing I liked from that thread is the benefit that they pre oil the engine and turbos before you even start the engine.

I have no concept of how much oil an engine pushes around the system or how fast the accusump recharges to know if the big system they do is adequate. To me a baffled sump is better and pretty much zero maintenance although the pre oiling before start up is favourable.

I know you said you don't want to be changing 8 litres of oil at a time but bear in mind that the more oil you have, the less frequently you need to change it. Over the use of say 100 litres, you still get the same amount of miles from it regardless of if you are running a standard sump or bigger sump. Keep us updated on what you do im interested to know.

Cheers for the advice guys. Looking like the specialityz sump i think. Just for simplicity. do like the idea of pre-oiling that the accusump gives, but every engine ive had and most other engines manage fine without that feature. Anyone any idea how much they work out at imported and roughly how long it takes to arrive. Got a lot of work on hold waiting for that to arrive. Have emailed them with similar questions.

Will keep everyone updated. Although its one of those things that you dont know if its working or not. IVe done a few trackdays and the engine hasnt blown up, or even dropped oil pressure. But its worth it for peace of mind.

Thanks again.

I reckon it will take a week tops if you get it ordered on Monday morning. Price about $600 inc. shipping. You can ask them to put the a lower value on the customs docket so you don't get canned with import duty but alot of the time the declared value is the insured value so a bit of risk if it doesn't turn up. I've done it plenty of times with no problems at all. If you get it can you post up a load of photos showing the trap doors in more detail?

Just noticed you have to either send them your pan or pay an extra $150! Might be an idea to see if you can get one sent to them off ebay.com to save a few quid.
