Stick-on Number plates ?

Anyone heard of such a thing to improve aerodynamics ? There is no need to have a flat piece of plastic stuck on the front obstructing air flow into the radiator and over the car.

Thought about this one my self, why not have a magnetic number plate, the mazda mx5 and miata has this, would look much better. smile.gif

I dont think he thought of that Andy.

The front bumper is fiber glass or plastic and the bonnet is aluminium which is not magnetic too.

You can get stick on ones, but can any one put them on or do you need a reason to have one?

Stuart

I heard the stick on ones were made illegal in the recent changes to reg plates.

It's OK to have them on older cars apparently so maybe you can fit one and say you've had it years as these are old cars?

Stick on ones have been made illegal, as people were taking the piss and putting it on the bonnet and making it unreadable, i.e. they are supposed to be vertical....but i suppose the police wont be too bothered if you can stick it so it is vertical on the car.

There was a bit of furore about the positioning, too i.e. had to be central in the car and stuff, but mitsi evo and alfa put pay to that by making cars with offset plates. But int he overall scheme of things, moving the numberplate aint gonna make so much difference (maybe to air flow into bay it will).

I have a good solution to air flow, ill dig around see if i can find a picture of it...you get to leave your plate in the same place too. but get better airflow.

Regards

they maybe totally illegal for new reg numbers though smile.gif

Why not get smaller wing mirrors too??? They create massive drag in comparison wink.gif Also get thinner front tyres - these create a lot of drag at speed. Always leave your window up and targas on....

The list is endless but I think the differences would be negligable...

CheerZ,

Andy

yeah especially considering the wing mirrors are like 700 squid lmao. For that money i think youd get more horespower than youd gain in aerodynamic efficiency. And a number plate im pretty sure would make as much difference to your aerodynamics at the speed limit as a formula one wing makes to an f1 car at idle.

La la la la ..

Just to put another slant on these little Cooling debates - I have run my Z at 17psi for 50 miles on a Summer evening at WOT thorttle at Stage 3 on more than one occasions ( on a private cough cough road) and never EVER had a single overheating problem !!!

Contary to popular belief Z engines dont run quiet as hot as most people think they do !

In short - dont waste your time !

God is coming ...and he dont have stock turbos . . .

Ever seen the advert with the factory making OK's ?

You guys should work there !!

I heard that Z engines are prone to overheating because the temperature sensor is not positioned in the best place in the engine.

I heard that Z's are prone to overheating because the temp. sensor in the engine is not in the best place.

Also, it's less about overheating and more about getting air into the engine to make it go faster (as well as reducing drag).

You can also get smaller more aerodynamic wing mirrors.

Sister in law just taken L reg MR2 for mot, its got stick on num plate on bonnet and it passed,so must be legal ,upto 1994 anyway!,

plus its white car, plate has white background with black letters, looks great!.
