the clock is bust, has a mind of its own, sometimes it will come on, sometimes it won't, it sometimes is fine one minute then for no reason fades out, and comes back on about 20 mins later or something.

This is a common problem right? Was it AndyP that fixed them? What is actually the problem with them, is there a tech somewhere that shows you how to fix em?

Yep, there's a tech on my site although it doesn't always work. What you need to do is resolder nearly every joint, paying very close attention to the plated links between the two sides of the circuit board.
