OK so i go to the car this morning, radioc oems on fine, theres a fly in the car, so i turn the ignition on, put the window down, put it back up, a couple of second later this buzzing sound starts coming from under the bonnet, so i lift the bonnet and it sounds like its coming from the back of the bay. Get in the car, the HICAS light is flashing, dunno what thats about so I ignore it and go to start the car....click click click click click etc... frown.gif Battery is dead again!

Can anyone shed some light on whats happening here? Whats the buzzing noise about? Whats the HICAS light flashing about? Why does the god damned battery keep getting drained?

The thing is 6 months ago the car was being driven every day, and there wasnt a single problem, but now this happens. I just dont understand frown.gif

EDIT- sorry forgot to mention the batteyr was only charged 2 days ago cos it went dead, the car has been started once and ran for about 2 mins since then.

Once batteries go flat for no reason they will always keep going flat no matter how much you charge it. Also running a car for 2 mins is not gonna charge up the battery. You need at least 15 mins of driving to get sufficient amount of power back in.

you really need to test for current drain with an ammeter. it could be almost anything. if its not been used for 6 months the battery may be knackered tho & unable to take a charge.

the battery was only put on a month ago, it had been on a xantia for months and that always started fine. The battery is 480 cold crank amps so it has enough juice to make the zed start. Since its been on it has gone dead a good few times, but it was fine on the other car.

Should be getting a multimeter soon, ill put it between the +ve battery terminal and the +ve battery connection and see what the current flow is when the car is off. Any ideas what it should be?

Whats concerning me more is why the HICAS light is going mad and what the buzzing noise is.

ideally below 0.2A

Is it the correct battery for a Z?

If its one from a Xantia, it may not be big enough.

Z's need the same battery size as a Ferrari F40!!!!! Hehehe. Thats the truth!

well its not the standard one from the xantia, ive seen zeds need 470 CCA, this is 480 so it is up to the job

I think ive read some where on here that the hicas light comes on when your battery power is very low.

If you boost charge a totally flat battery, you will warp the plates inside and ruin it.

If there isn't enough juice to turn engine over, you need to slow charge battery for a few hours, then put it on a fast charge to fully charge it.

Hope this helps.
