IIRC it's down to the better gearing so you get better acceleration from start but lose some top end speed

shorter gearing on NA diff hence quicker acceleration if you can keep the power down thats why NA`s can keep up with TT`s on the track if you was at Japfest last year you will understand

i've only just got into the jap scene mate. scoob first now the z. so still kinda got the l plates on with the jap scene!

so as long as you use the na complete diff etc then the flywheel and clutch should suffice..... if i were to keep the tt diff then it would definately need the larger clutch and flywheel set up?

well to convert a TT chassis to a NA diff set up you need the complete subframe and a new prop as the mounting is different. that way you can get better acceleration from your TT however a new flywheel and clutch will always help.

What power can the NA diff handle? I've heard people say not as much as a TT's but nobody's ever put a figure on it

there is a clip on youtube compairing a stock TT and by the side a TT with Na diff and pullys. It looks at the rev guage and the differance is huge!!

I've always heard that it takes a second off 0-60, certainly not to be sniffed at!

Can't find it, any chance you can have a look?

I have done this on 3 different Z's. I believe a couple of other members have also now done this upgrade.

Unfortunately its hard for me to give an accurate opinion on the before and after difference of this mod on its own. One was a customers car and I did not do the test drive, but he was very happy with the conversion. Another was an NA converted to a TT, so same final outcome, but very different before and after, and the other is my own Slicktop......

However with my own Slicktop, I did a whole range of other modifications at the same time - Lightweight Pulleys, flywheel, propshaft, divorced wastagates, decat (all of which improve throttle response and acceleration) and the car is about 250kg lighter than most Z's. I can tell you that it revs, responds and accelerates like a completely different animal to a regular 300zx.

Top speed is calculated to be around 20mph lower than with the TT diff, limited to about 165mph. It will however reach this speed quicker than the TT setup can.

Be aware that RPM will sit 2-300rpm higher at motorway crusing speeds, which will have a negative affect on long distance fuel economy.

MWS Motorsports have done a Video showing the before and after NA swap, and it can be seen here http://www.mwsmotorsports.com/media/video/MWSTV-300ZX-NARearSubframeSwap.zip In the video they show about a second difference 0-60mph test.

The NA Diff is an R200. The TT Diff is an R230. The R200 is a more popular setup, as used in the Skyline GTR and 200sx. Its not just the Diff thats different though, the NA uses thinner (and lighter) driveshafts than the TT.

Ive never seen a figure on this either but i will be putting it to the test and if it snaps then i will have a figure for you :D

i dont tink many pof us will need to worry you can however use the gtr r200 lsd which is more robust 6 bolt rather than 4. slick pete has done this i believe.

thats what i've got full subframe, prop....etc its on the car now just not driven it yet as i'm still deleting etc.. just wanting to know what everyone else may know .....as info and opinions can help ,cheers bud and could you tell me the colour name of the yellow on your car please as i've got a yellow z but as you'll know the originall yellow aint so appealling!

mine is Nissan pearl yellow but i cant remember off the top of my head the code and my zed aint with me. Im sure someone can remember it.

Good video that Yowser, the customer seemed impressed. If you could keep going until it detonates Gonzo that would be great, at least then everyone know! According to the vid you can start at 400bhp no problem:laugh:

lol ill give it a go but it will be a case of all or nothing as the TT build will be so there will be no in between figure that it handles just the figure it doesnt :)

I'm wondering how my setup will pan out using a quaife atb diff combined with 4.10 leader gears. I've heard the leader gears are similar to the n/a gear ratio. Hopeing the quaife will also able to add more traction.

I think the technical term is......'uber quick' mate

I am so excited to finish my project I am doing conversion from NA to TT with quit good mods.

Benefits is that I got pe1420 turbos which have so much torque and 0 turbo lag and Na subframe will be at the back doing nice job. I cant wait to finish my z and do test drive.

so this is the mods I will have at the end:

pe1420 turbos

555cc injectors

dual air intake

hks intercooler

N/A subframe and diff.

N/A steering pump

ECU remap

light weight crankshaft pullet

N/A steering pump with out hicas system

265 tyres at the back

rps clutch

2.5 inch exhaust

after market turbo elbow pipes

and racelogic traction control plus lunch control.

at the end I will try to run 470bhp+

so this is all power gain mods.

so now a question is... what time will be in 60mph with 470bhp and N/A diff

I think is definitely will be under 4 seconds.

what you guys think ?

Ob cheers mate. Than i finish project i will do a test and will upload final outcame.

Lightweight pulley and flywheel on my NA gave a huge response difference at the bottom end - never got to try it on my TT but i would imagine it would help improve the bottom end grunt before the turbo kicked in.
