well after spending 4yrs and almost 17k on my zed its time to hang the coat up and call it a day.

In the last mon ive fitted 2engines in it and both have been no good.

Unfortunatley now ive not got the time or money left to redo it all again.

So will be taking it back out this weekend and start stripping the car.

In the past ive had a house broken into and burnt to the ground and that was nowhere near as upsetting as this decision has made me.

So watch out as the parts start coming up for offers.

Dont do it, cover her up for a month take a break then get a tested engine from jeff or jimmer fella

Is the rest of the car good, just the engine need changing?

If so, i really wouldn't break it. Its a pain in the arse and you will hate doing it.

If you need the money asap, then you got to do what you got to do, but if you just cant afford to fix it, park it up until you can.

Agree with the above, sorry to hear thats another engine that is no good, you are so close and cant stop within reaching distance of the finish.

I know how much you want the Z on the road, how about selling a couple of aftermarket bits you have for it to fund a replacement, to at least get it working and MOT'd, then look to replace the bits a bit further down the line?

If i had choice of just waiting i would. But im car less at mo and really need one for work.

Although i do have loads of spares now that are good to try sell on.

I now got 3sets of cylinder heads that are gonna be no good to me. Plus loads of other little bits.

Anyone wonna swap a load of parts for a good engine, pleeeeaaassseeeee, lol.

Stick a cover over it and wait until the summer!

and if you need a car mate, I've got a tidy low mileage import Nissan Wingroad estate (similar size to Astra estate) that I'm gonna' be putting on ebay shortly starting price of only £700

automatic 1.5ltr engine with fantastic fuel economy, with full 12 months MOT, new tyres and only 50'odd thousand on the clock

So is this another Engine Dave, not the one with no compression?-if so where from? I'm losing track here!

what happened to the engine with no compression? wasn't it one you bought recently - can you not send that back to recoup some costs?

Its a second engine, cylinder 6 has got 10psi on the compression test.

First one i got from kinguwaga(summat spelt like that). Every cylinder had less than 95psi and NO 4 cylinder had only 45psi.

Second engine i got from vodkashots(who did say cylinder 6 may have a problem but wasnt sure and has agreed to a full refund as it is broken((thankyou ian)).

if you find another can you take the compression tester with you and turn it over by hand? (I'm asking as I dont know - never used a comp. tester)

No, cant turn it fastenough to get a reading. But i like your thinking.

No problem bud I did say only pay when you were happy with it, with such good compression on the other cylinders though I'd be inclined to find out what's up with cylinder 6

No,but if the starter is on you could stick a jump pack on it and short the starter.

How accurate is a cold compression test mate?

like i said ages ago,you should have just fixed yours, all this messing about, you could have honed the first engine and put new pistons or rings in it,at least you would have known it was good then.It would not have cost you that much and saved all this aggro :pinch:

Accurate enough to determine if the engine is fecked or not!-Engines do start from cold after all:biggrin:

I've got an engine you can have, believed to be good, that I'm removing some time this week. Its from Osty1's car that I collected at the weekend so he could probably tell you more about it than me. I dont need it as I've got one already for my project that I had free off a forum member, so If it keeps you going then I'll be returning a favour, so to speak. Pm me if you want it.
