Passenger side wishbone problem!

Okay just found out why my car clunks when stopping..my wishbone is split where the two connecting bolts go where the tension rod bar attaches. Okay. Suggestion..can I make a plate and drill two holes for the tension rod bolts to pass through and tack weld the plate to the wishbone or better to just replace the damn wishbone. Say this cos the car is in the garage tomorrow for roll bar bushes and steering rack bushes.
