Thrust bearing question?

I've been advised by a local clutch specialist that the thrust bearing that was used previously with my Exedy twin plate clutch was most likely too big for the clutch, resulting in it literally melting the top set of 'fingers' and fusing the metal to the lower set. The ID of the area that was worn away was about 10mm+ larger than the ID of the hole in the centre of the clutch 'fingers'.

Could anybody tell me, is there a specific thrust bearing that is supposed to be used with the Exedy twin plate clutch, and if so is it slightly smaller than stock?
