Ok, while Alex CAN'T get online to argue the point, lets settle a stupid argument we've been having lol :)

 

On any other car Ive ever had that has had a push button key release, its always been more finished than this (see piccy I putterupperered)

 

 

Alex (Hollowpoint) will argue forever that "it cannot have a plastic piece that goes around this button, never had one, never seen a zed with one"

 

It's glaringly obvious that the insert and notches are not there by design and there is a bit missing!!! :detective:

 

Does ANYONE actually still have that bit, or are they pointless to replace.

 

Meanwhile, am off to go tidy it up before it's good enough to paint ... :p

yep, you are missing the small triangular piece. My zeds have one. Probably got a spare in the garage but cant think where lol.

I've never seen a zed with it missing :)

if it part of the column cover then i have 1. its off a k plate.will be same i'd of thought. you can av it if you need it.

Well I havnt touched it yet so you offered in the nik of time. Sure, I'd appreciate that :) Better to have the original piece in this case I think. :clap:

 

 

 

Something else about the ignition..... I still have the steering column etc out of the black n yellow Z (as well as the doors/other locks). We'd like to swap them all out but does that mean we'd HAVE TO swap out the entire steering column? Ugh, suppose we do have to ... cant see a way to just take the ignition block off but can I do that without having to take the dash board out? :(

 

These pod mods keep on growing lol. Need to change the steering column. Need a new steering wheel. Need suitable wire to extend the hazard switch wiring and buy diodes. Need better backlighting in the dials and I would like to see a nice bright blue lit ring around that ignition aswell.

 

.... Better go talk to Groover if I want to get a wiggle on this 'little' project then lol :)

No you dont need to, the block that holds the ignition barrel etc to the column is held on by two security screws - simply drill these out and replace with normal bolts or new security bolts once you've fitted it to the new car. :)

Mines got the plastic piece.....and the ring around my ignition barrel lights up red when the lights are on :)

Yup - mine has the same piece there as well - in fact it has the word "push" embossed on it!!

 

My blue ZX was missing that little tab when I bought it - but I stole it from my red ZX before I handed it over to the new owner.......:wink:

fiddly job to do that with the column in the car though. pretty easy to get the column out, about a 30 minute job all up to remove old one and fit the replacement.

 

Now fitting the door locks...

I have seen 'push' done in the white on a few pics and mine must of faded away, so I went into the garage and just painted on some white gloss, then wiped it off and eh presto the 'push' is now all white again :cool3:

Yes - I have the "push" done in white......

 

......but after taking the ZX out this morning, I stand corrected - the writing is on the button itself and not the little triangle cover!!
