Fuel Addatives, anyone use them ?

Does anyone have a view on the fuel addatives such as Redex?. Do they make any difference. They also do a gearbox addative that is supposed to improve gearbox life and give smoother changing.

Any comments welcome.

The advice I have always been given for my Zs is to use the best quality synthetic oil in engine and gearbox and steer clear of addatives. Also to change the oil and filters regularly. I do use injector cleaner every so often as I drive in traffic a lot.

The more technical members may have better advice.

I stick some injector cleaner in every other full tank fill up (only 1.99 I think from Harry's)

Other additives I wouldn't use on a Z cause I'm funny like that, I would however us the gearbox stuff but only after a service and flush on it, JeffTT showed me some stuff he has put in his (can't remember what it's called though) I'm booked in for a gearbox flush at ZedWorld in a couple of weeks and the 'stuff' will be added after the flush, I can't remember what it's called......and it's going to bug me now!!

Id stay away from additives to oils, im sure the £xxxxxxxx or whatever the manufacturers spent developing the oil, for it to be *so* much improved by a bottle of additive?

forgive me but im a little sceptical!

Injector cleaner i use sometimes, but have never particularly found it improved anything much. but i will use it every few fill ups ro something, if i can be arsed buying it.

After speaking with Domingoes (SA Nissan touring car head engine managment guy) he was adiment that it is all shit and would not touch any of it period.

But then you would hear from others that it is good.

but i agree with ay3388 kak.

A drop of Castrol R in the tank never goes amiss. I love the smell of that stuff!!!

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.

Hi everyone, talking of oil adds and fuel adds i've been using ZX1 for some years, and its the only one i would recomend to anyone, its actually not an oil additive, but best go to there web site and check it out, goes in engine, tank, autos, diffs etc, even has a NATO stock and part num,and even tested and approved by the japanese lubricating society,so if its good enough for them, etc, etc. www.team-zx1.com

I used ZX1 once, 6 months later (and probably coincidence) and my turbos siezed. I wouldn't put anything in after that!!!

As some of the guyz have said, regular oil changes and original filter..............
