Alternator wiring help please..

Ok.. after 11 months - I've finally got an engine back in the Zed - and am now beginning to wire the bugger back up again.

 

On the alternator there is one two pin connectors, one fat ring connector and one smaller ring connector. Now my memory tells me that the larger ring goes to the (+) positive post on the alt.

 

Is this correct? I ask because when I connect it all up like that - just about every warning light comes on on the dash!! :S

 

Help!
