Squeaky / creaky noise from front passenger side suspension

I can hear it when I'm driving at low speed. A sort of fluttery, squeaky, creaky noise when the car goes over a bump or any uneven surface. It's coming from near the front passenger side wheel. If I push down on the arch I can hear the same noise a bit.

I guess it's a bush or a bearing or something in the linakge? Is there a common problem I should check for? I guess the first thing is to take the wheel off and have a look?

Thanks in advance!

I took the wheel off again. Remving the shock is beyond me I think so I didn't try that.

I think the gap on the tops was caused by human error rather than a collapsing bush as when I first saw it, on one side the two locking nuts weren't even together, they were about 1/2 cm apart.

I've tightened and locked the nuts down on both sides as best I can. The noise has gone!

I guess I should get a garage to inspect it all fairly soon anyway.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help and advice.

when you move to northampton, your more than welcome to pop around and ill have a proper look for you bud.

I'll let you know when I'm sure. Probably one of the villages to the east or south east of the city, a few miles out.

Would it be worh while just greasing up the joints on all yor suspension componants? Reason I ask is mine has started creaking lately, I have checked for any damage or signs of worn bushes and all seems fine? Im just wondering if a touch of grease may do the trick?

Mine's fine now.

I can't believe I was driving round with those nuts lose. The only thing I can think is they slackened them off at the recent Mot to check something and didn't tighten them back up - they did mention front bushes so maybe they were looking round there. I don't think they just came lose as one side the two nuts weren't even locked together. Who knows! Anyway, it seems fine now, nasty noise is gone.
