Hi guys im having trouble with my zed. I have narrowed it down to the AFM and air filter thanks to a quick call to jeff, as they seem to be getting wet when it rains. I was wondering if you guys have pictures of your nose panels and the seals around the front end as i guess im missing a seal somewhere along the lines. I will try and get some pictures of mine up after work.

Thanks in advance

I think this is the problem with aftermarket filters.

Not really sure of the way round it. If you make something to block the water, youd be blocking the air too.

oh right there seems to be a big gap between the top of the nose panel and the bonnet is there meant to be a seal the bonnet should sit on?

dave what filter type do you have? mine gets rain dripping on it as my front nose panel doesnt have the rubber at the bottom of it and i do not get any problems.

Is it a cone filter? or a mushroom?

if its a cone filter there is a mod you can do that involves a plastic plant pot lol

Im missing the top seal then and its an apexi filter bolted directly on to the afm

My front panel has a seal top and bottom, and there is also a plastic flap underneath that comes off the inside of the bumper that stops rain/spray getting on the filter.my filter is an apexi and it stays dry as a bone.

shouldn't matter, i have no top or bottom seal and mines vented, i have a hks cone filter similar to the apexi one i dont suffer issues, go get a plastic plant pot and rig it to cover the top and front of the filter with a cutout section for the bottom of the filter

Well my air filter has defernatly seen better days as the end feel off the other day which im sure is due to it being constanly wet and im pretty sure the afm is buggered for the same reason so i want to make sure there both dry before i go buying replacments. Any idea where i can get a top seal for the nose panal from?

Buy one of the many nose panels for sale on here, then re-spray it?

Either buy a new seal and fixing screws from mike feeney or buy the cheapest second hand panel you can get that has the seal on it.

Sod spraying a panel to solve the problem lol

Good point, take the nose panel Jim offered and swap the seals to your current one, problem solved.

I get a similar problem on occasion now that I have switched to the APexi air filter!

The old induction cone I had (which I sold to Voddy last year) did not give any problems in wet weather; but the Apexi does sometimes - like accelerating hard uphill...!! I sometimes get a slight hesitationaround 2500rpm - but only in exceptionally heavy rain.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I doubt its to do with your nose panel. A few drips from above wont do anything, but water spray from the front into your front bumper opening will.

Its likely your missing the plastic splash guard that sits below the filter. People often mistakenly remove it when fitting aftermarket filters. its Black plastic and about the size of a piece of A4 paper and sits midway up the bumper height. Easy enough to mock up an improvised splash guard instead to stop water reaching filter from the bumper opening.

I have both seals and i had this problem. My filter would gather water in the bottom of it. I did tests with pieces of paper, putting it under the nose panel and spraying the hose on it. The water was getting between the bumper and the nope panel.

This is what i done.

Not had the problem since.

Sheet of plastic, not even bolted down, looks like crap but it works
