I've actually been an un-subbed member for sometime, as I am a moderator over on 350z-uk and part helped to organise LakeZ 2011.(More info on LakeZ 2012 to come soon).

I had a pretty nicely modified (if I do say so myself!) 350z, which I looked into TT'ing, but it would have been the first TT HR engined Zed in the country and was gonna cost more than the car was worth. So instead I part ex-d it for a VXR8 (LS3) and had a play around with 440bhp for a year or so.

Got shot in the summer, and have been moping around in difference sheds of various guises, the latest of which is a Honda Accord Tourer.

Time has come to get myself a Zed once again, but due to impending house buying and family additions I can't justify the cost of another 350z, or of a TT 300. So as such I have settled on a n/a 300 which I can take my time over and have some fun.

Some of you will have already seen my wanted thread, so know that I am talking to a few members about their n/a's, but if anyone does have an n/a they are thinking about selling then drop me a PM. Most things considered, though would prefer a shortie.

Shameless pic-whore time:

Aye, I needed to get the V8 bug outta my system.

Only work I had done to it was a custom exhaust system with electric cut-outs. Loved that car.

Unfortunatly I had a low speed spin in it in Dec 2010 and bashed the rear wheel into a curb at about 20mph. Resulted in the car being sat in a Vauxhall dealership being repaired for......6 months 3 days!!!! It only needed a sum total of 8 parts to repair it, but they kept mucking up the order from Oz, and then finding they hadnt ordered the right parts, or not ordered all the parts they needed, then the parts got lost in Germany.....the list of screw ups goes on and on.

Ultimately it meant I had fallen out of love with the car long before i got it back, and it was sold as just as soon as I could get rid of it.

Oh how I miss that V8 sound though. Should the 300's engine ever decide to go bang, there is every chance the car would be the basis of a LS1 transplant. Who knows.

Welcome matey :)

Shame about the vxr8, looks lovely mate :thumbup1:

I'm after an n/a and no way that one would be in my budget.

Sorry, why did I think Daffy's was an NA? I think I'm losing it here....lol.....

swear i saw that car in banzai once. not keen on those rims always thought they were odd looking other than that it was a really nice car mate. as for your zed predicament, i wouldnt be to quick to right off a tt. many insurance companies charge less.... believe it or not. and fuel consumption isnt that differnt with mixed driving. on a long run on duals and motorways a tt will be better on fuel. sadly an na is far easier to work on and generally more reliable due to being cooler running and more spacious engine wise.

whats you budget?

£2k. I have a wanted thread up already.

It's not so much the insurance being the reason I aint after a TT, it's more the ease to work on an na. I know my way round and engine, but this'll be my first time actually having the space and time to do any work on a car.

Also my budget is limiting initially.

Yeah, the 350 was in both Banzai and Jap Performance. The wheels are very mamite, but I always liked them.

Welcome along matey. I Like your 350Z and im not normaly a fan. and love the reg

But shame on you for selling :slap:

you will be best getting a TT imo. you will miss the power. insurance will be the same. parts are the same plus 2 tubs and both just as reliable and only 2mpg differance :)

I understand what you are saying about a TT, but I'm more inclined to start with the n/a, see how I get on with it. Learn the car inside out as it were. Then in a few years I would consider selling/breaking and going for a TT.

And yeah, I wish I had never sold the 350z.

you sound to sensible to own a zed lol!!!! I bought you will be happy with the power, its a bit of a come down. Have you driven one??

  • Author

Yeah, but it was about 4 years ago! it was an n/a too.

tbh, the power thing ain't an issue. I mean, I haven't had a powerful car for over a year now (well, aside from the 2 weeks I had the VXR8 back between it being repaired and me selling it).

It's more about the process of building up a show car this time round for me. The power thing comes secondary.....for now. lol

First of will be just getting reliable and in good condition mechanically.

A friend of mine runs Falcon Performance in Middlesborough, so it will go into there to get a once over and any rust dealt with and then undersealed.

Mod wise will be standard stuff - 99 spec lights, decent aftermarket front nose, custom exhaust (headers back) from AAS Exhausts in Newcastle.

Probs lowering springs rather than coilovers to start with.

Hope to get all that done in time for the 350z Wales run, or LakeZ at the latest.

Over next winter I hope to start playing around under the bonnet - generally upgrading and tinkering.

Bit of an open book when it comes to that tbh. Will deal with it when the time comes!

sounds like a plan :) . Where is the 350Z wales run??

Wales........ lol. Used to be in and around the evo triangle, but its changing this year I think, but no sure where.

The team run a 350/370 weekend run every year. Normally limited to 50 cars.

I think this year we plan to invite a limited number of other zed cars from throughout the community. Still waiting on details to be finalised.

Think it's booked for last weekend in May this year.

Once its all confirmed, someone should be over to to put put an official invite up (most likely me).
