Yep we own zeds, but what made you get started?

Ive had a few fairly quick cars and some total poo, but also a lotus sunbeam, RS2000 mk2. rover gsi turbo plus some others.

The reason i bought my first zed. was a mate of mine got me started, when we went on a xmas do a few years back, and he turned up in auto TT, and i had a go. I was hooked instantly, just loved the shape, engineering and the look of the car. When i split up from my wife, i decided to get myself a toy, so i got a standard jap 91 TT auto, whilst being very happy with it, i was on here, and came across my TT UK, both zeds are still with me, the jap as spares, and the UK is my baby.

Its such an addictive car, just from it sitting there looking pretty doing nothing, to opening it up and really going for it. Quite honestly the best motor for putting a smile on you face ive ever had.

Interested to know, what made you go for a 300zx.?

back in 1991 i see one when walking home from school, it was black and looked stunning, always wanted one since then, then back in 2008 i decided that if i didn't get one, id never get one, so looked on line and now im on my 5th one.

My ex bf had one when we first met. We drove EVERYWHERE! I said that I have to get one someday, and here I am :D

When they first came out I was working for a VW dealer - the company also owned a Nissan dealer opposite, one day one of the techs brought one in our workshop & I was blown away by it - it was just amazing & I knew I had to have one!! :w00t:

As soon as I could afford one I bought the same one I have now - nearly 10 years on & still love driving it!! :thumbup1:

Back in '07 I wanted a Skyline GTR, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. I saw the 'Old vs New' Top Gear episode where the 300zx spanks the 350z by a good margin and did a quick search on tinter'web.

I found a tidy example on ebay and made the drive down south for a view and test drive. If I'm honest I wasn't completely blown away by the power of the TT but figured that it was decent bang for the buck and a good base to start modifying.

I paid a deposit there and then and was the new owner a few days later.

I didnt even know what they were lol!!! Was looking at supras on the WRC import site and saw mine and thought what the hell is that.

Went to see it and when i got there they had everthing possible and all within my price range. so i wanted everything and test drove about 6 cars lol!!!!

I HATED the dash in the zed but i loved the seating position and the way it drove so i bought it.

Funny thing is i think the z dash is still one of the nicest out there with a few little tweeks

Its good to hear other stories!

My love affair with them started when I was playing football for under 8s (very long time ago lol) and the manager had a brand new one in red. I absolutely loved it but never thought I'd ever get to own one as they were so expensive. I used to ride my bike 3 miles from my house and go past his driveway with the hope the Z would be parked there so I could look at it!

I got my first one when I was 22, then sold it in search of more power which was when I bought the R32 GTR, but I was hooked on Z's so sold the GTR to clear some finances and bought my 2nd Z. Then I got told I was losing my job, and together with needing to buy a house I decided to sell the Z for some shitty 2 litre euro box. That didnt last long at all and bought my third Z, now I've got #6 and #7 on the drive!

i'm basically a turbo addict. it started with an uno ie then a renault 21 then came an audi. and although they were nippy , fwd was a let down. so i turned to the japs and bought a wild scoob.it was great but the ride was shocking. so i've landed here with a solidish z, and its the only car i've had that i love.

tbh i was looking online on day and stumbled onto them and i couldnt find a car that offered so much for so little money electric everything, twin turbo v6, reliable, great looking and tuneable all for 2.5k what a bargin!!!

so i snapped up a uk auto and havnt looked back and to be honest i still cant find a car that offers so much the only 1 small gripe i have is road noise on the m'way but appart from that i love it

i just started my company and wanted to get my self a little present, but at 21 any thing with any power was way to expensive to insure was looking at 200sx's and typed it in wrong and found a 300zx 15 miles away had a look and loved it then found out as it was a classic i could insure it and the rest is history

I wanted one since it was on the "you can with a Nissan" ad. Hmm, thats showing my age, but I was a mobile beautician at the time and couldn't fit my gear in the boot!! I bought my first one after I changed jobs.

I bought mine because I wanted something fast. I'd been impressed with my Skyline, so thought I would stick with Nissan. Always liked the way it looked, it's a classic design. I don't think it's possible to go quicker for the same money?

I was looking for over 2 years to find my 300. It was between 3 cars..... Mitsu 3000, Maz RX7, and Nis 300. Looked at some amazing cars in them times, and some rotters too.

The 3000 exterior is good, but the interior is shite..... The RX7 is a fantastic car all round, great cabin and smart exterior lines, but was not convinced on the engine.... Now, the 300ZX has it all, sleek lined exterior, timeless interior, and a V6 Twin Turbo engine to top it off.

My choice, and yours (proberbly) was an easy one............... Nissan 300ZX.

Alz.

First time i saw a 300zx,and it was a z31,in a film called blinddate, with Bruce Willis in it,I loved that car and in 1989 when i was 15 I bought autocars review of new cars for 1990. And i saw 2 cars that floated my boat. The new calibra, and the second was the new nissan 300zxtt.and that was it i loved them ever since and I have been lucky enough to own both of my childhood dream cars, various calibras and 2 300zx's.A manual N/A and now my Auto tt.And I wont be getting rid of my Zed again.

i didn't ... the Zed chose me went to a garage one day. then some how it followed me home

like a lost puppy :whistling:

I went to the launch party in '89, I was 6, my dad was playing in the band for the big ceremony do, I loved it, and that day I said I was gonna get one, took a while, but I have :)

thats ace. Does your dad have any pictures from the day?

i went up to a garage to see a mr2 that i had wanted when i got there i saw a white 300 parked next to it. really loved it but when the salesman said it was a 3litre tt i thought there is no way il get insured on that so i bought the mr2 that i had went for. had the mr2 for 3 weeks when someone decided to cut infront of me and hit me head on destroying it so got paid out for injuries and my car so thought what the hell the extra money i got can pay for insurance for the 300 checked the insurance and it was cheaper than the mr2 lol so went up and bought it and have loved them ever since

Unfortunately not mate... I remember it well tho, even remember my Mam, merry on champagne, nearly dropping one of the targas, I can still hear a thousand people going 'Ooooooohhhhhhhhh', haha.

bet they were an expensive replacement too! Nowadays you cant get rid of the fluckers :lol:

I didn't either was all for getting into a skyline after the first zed but as Janus offered me a fantastic slickie I couldn't refuse plus the goal has been seen and the parts I've got sitting around to fit are worth more than the zed

Mine was a school boy dream, I played top trumps with the zed in and loved it,I watched one in a film(cant remember the name?) then one day I saw one for real parked across the road, it was probably 1 year old and had a full body kit on and a disabled man was getting out of it!!! i thought he was god :} i longed for one for years and they were about 30k at the time, but i said i will have one ,one day, i started off my dream in my nissan 200sx first then quickly moved on to my TT and lived happily ever after ;)

Had a DTM Edition V6 Calibra (one of only 12 left on the road) for 3 years, spent a fortune on it getting it back to original, but wanted more power and rwd and didnt want the hassle of converting the Calibra to rwd.Had looked at zeds in the past, a guy two doors from my mums had a red one, so had a look for a zed to replace the Calibra and settled on my black 91 jdm tt.
