This is the steering wheel we are looking to get for the zed.

 

 

Nicely black and silver so should go very well with everything else I am doing to the car with the interior mods so far. It will be a pop off wheel.

What I am not sure about is how it is going to look 'through'/surrounding the wheel. The center of this steering wheel is so much smaller than the standard setup, and the housing behind has a very large hole. I'm concerned that you can see into the plastic surround / the gap inside, once this is fitted.

I know plenty have replaced their standard steering wheel with an aftermarket one so wondered if anyone has a straight-on photo of something similar so I know if I want to do a few more pedantic mods before spraying it all up. :)

Well we haven't bought it yet, but bearing in mind it's black and silver, and Alex doesn't like the 10 to 2 thumb spots to be too obvious, I'm open to suggestions :)

Yuuuuuuuk! I can only just see the edge of the red stitched leather, but that's enough to put me off :) Maybe that would have gone well in the wasp though lol.

okay, you got me looking at OMP. I don't like the top yellow center marker they like to put on the steering wheels. That's just silly lol, how can it help driving other than being a distraction. I did find one for under £70 that I do like though...:)

thats better, the first one you posted looked like something from alien vs predator.. have a look at MOMO too see if you like any of those designs.

i actually like the first one, baz just likes his drift wheels which is what OMP are more aimed at, the drift / racing scene.

 

I like the first one as its looks quite chunky to at least you can hold on properly when the turbos kick in.

My opinion, for what it's worth, the 300zx is a GT car and not a racer. So I reckon that the stock wheel is probably the best......:lol:

 

Failing that, the one Rose initially posted is better than the other suggestions so far. Otherwise the predictable Momo Millenium or the newer chunkier Millenium (whetever it's called), whilst a common upgrade, better suit the car.

 

All in my humble opinion of course - we all have different tastes and ideas; it's what makes this place so interesting!!!

The chunkier is what I prefer too hence liking the momo more than the other one. I have to admit it is more classy/better finished than our first cheap idea, but then, the cheap £35 one may be making it into the car until we feel like dishing £180 for the momo one for now! :)

I still need to see the boss fitting in the zed though. All may say it fills the gap/fits fine, but I'm more pedantic than most :p

 

Any pics out there?... anyone? ... ah well, the spraying will have to be put on hold until the boss kit arrives then. Thankfully, the location of the horn switch has been pointed out by Harby300 too :)

 

I'm trying to modify reasonably tasteful on this zed which is why I am approaching for opinion a bit more. It would be nice to find a happy medium with the finished look rather than do my usual 'gung ho' lol :D

Im sorry i have to disagree, there isnt one Nardi wheel in that collection i would put on my zed, they have nothing appealing about them, to me anyway lol

Loving the look of that cockpit Groover, very nice and the steering wheel suits the car very well IMHO. Got me wanting one; and Father Christmas has just been....Damn it!!

Well I like the one we picked out, I like the Momo Rose posted up (The one without the MOMO in big yellow at the top), but with the suede finish preferably, I also really like the one Groover posted up too, a lot actually. Decisions, decisions.

 

BTW Baz, you've got some REALLY bad taste in steering wheels bud, lol
