It's gotten to the point where everything is obviously staged. I don't think anything just happened by itself.

Poor cars - destroyed in usual TG fashion! I bet those 3 weren't left there, surely!

If they knew they were going to the himilayas why didnt they take an old range rover. I would have sold them mine for £7k

I went to the Top Gear studio back in Decemebr '09 with a couple of lads from work as guests of the Stig, who were friends of friends etc. It was the episode with Seasick Steve as the special guest, and it was a good day for the most part.

The only down side was the five or six takes just to get the 'Hammond falling off and crashing his motorised scooter/skateboard thing on set' :hammer:

We were briefed by JC to laugh as much the second, third and forth time as we did the first

Best bit of the day was being a passenger with Ben Collins when he completely destroyed a rim whilst testing the 'new' Focus RS on track.....that obviously wasn't staged

Is that the 'special forces trained' stig haha. He takes the piss out of my corp in his book the arse haha.

Yeah that Stig. I thought his book was quite a good read and to be fair he doesn't go on too much about it, a lot less than I was expecting in fact.

Now Bear Grylls, he does go on a bit about being ex SF. They're all civvy's in green kit anyway....

your right mate it was a good read, made my junior cadre a bit more bearable haha, and yep grylls is the worst for it the lizard

The thing with Bear Grylls that I don't quite get is that he obviously knows a lot about various survival techniques and with one of his old SF army socks and the blue tits eyelash that he carries in his pocket, he could probably knock up a fire in less than 20 seconds........so why the **** does he insist on grabbing hold of frogs and snakes and just troffing them down???

If you're that good fella', cook the bloody thing!!

He is entertaining though, and by all accounts (well I saw the sign on the side of Scout HQ opposite my hotel room) he's the UK's chief scout, so fair play to the guy

anyway, are you in the UK now bud?

bear grylls is fecking awesome, does some of the most insane stuff, but hes all about extream survival while on the move.

True facts though

at aged 21 he did 3 years service in the SAS, during that time he suffered a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa where he broke his back in three places, after recovering he went on to climb everest.

At 23 entered the guinness book of records for climbing everest as one of the youngest mountaineer to climb to the peek.

in 1997 he become the Youngest Briton to climb the Mount Ama Dablam in the Himalayas

In 2007, Bear attempted to return to Everest and become the first man to fly a powered paraglider to a height above the world’s tallest mountain. The expedition was documented for Discovery Channel, titled: Bear’s Mission Everest and the team raised over $2.4million in the process for Global Angels and children’s charities worldwide.

He has lead teams to circumnavigate the UK on jetskis, raising funds for the Lifeboats, he has broken world records in high-altitude ballooning, skydiving and much more, including a world first for taking a rigid inflatable boat through the infamous, ice-strewn North West Passage.

take me hat off to the guy, hes done crap loads for charity.

All good stuff no doubt, but Bear Grylls was never in the regiment....he was TA

nothing wrong with TA mate, had a few friends in TA that still went afghan and Iraq with the regs for 3 month tours at a time, and served along side the regs in the same regions doing the same job, they all get my respect. shame i was medically discharged before i got my regiment or i would of been there too. so much for following in my dads footsteps

Anyone who serves in the armed forces whether it be in the T/A or regular forces gets my admiration, all these lads and lassies willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for theyre country.makes you proud to be Brittish

watched ten mins of it after the game decided i was to drunk so graed a cupl o cidrs and came on here was it sh@( then

He is the chief scout which is a pretty big deal I'm told, and someone like him will get more young lads through their doors.

On H14 we had the box set off the chogies, it's good to watch and an easy way to pass the day but if you've done any sort of survival training it's all taken with a pinch of salt.

I'm on leave at the moment mate, start work in Yeovil attached to the RN on the 9th Jan, driving back on the 6th ish to re register the car etc.

The TA do a valuable job and when out on tour there is no difference in my view, however the TA SF training is nothing like the regs and having worked with regs and TA there is a difference in skills. But it didn't do bear grylls or chris Ryan any harm eh!

Or a grilled SPAM sarnie mate

Nice one!

smithy

Sas started as a ta regiment, top gear was ok!

No it didn't, there was no TA during the war. It pooled the best out of the Commando service that was operating at the time.

Agree about TG it wasn't that good but I did laugh at hammonds mini getting it's face ripped off

Wasnt keen on top gear either, they have totally run out of ideas, its gone dull and boring, but i still watch it over and over again on Dave and dav va ju

At one point it did shock me how they were on the train and the banner flew out? could have ripped them out of the train?, could have been cgi but it looked real to me?
