ive decided bearing on budjet that its best to get the car to a certain standard things that i have on my list have been dropped in favour of others.

as im working on a budjet ive tried to streamline to cut costs. for example my car does not need side skirts or a spanking iced out interoir. but theres something thats a hurdle for me.

the air con.

ive never known weather it just needs regassing or weather its fubared or what. the project is at a fork where this is concerned. because if it dosent work because its fubar and needs x spent on it it can go. il pull it straight out save some weight and simply the engine bay. but along with this comes the thought process of do i need eletric front seats, if thers no air con why not do away with all the other "luxuary" items. cruise control blah blah blah.

Part of me says if it works keep it it will add value to the car if you have to sell it, having all the toys working is good for resale. (fact)

So how can i work out the air con buisness? and would ripping out all the guff and making a more focused car out of it actually detrement its value that much? its not in daily use its a cruiser and a b road toy at present that i plan to get to a point i can run it on a few track days so obvioulsy bigger brakes etc are wanted eventually. ive never wanted to be carpetless etc. a bit like the american boys do CAGE BUT CARPET. :)

If its not ur daily driver, and you are looking into the odd track day, i would say get rid off some luxuries, cruise, aircon, electric seats, hicas..... etc.

Done this to my 300...

Alz.

Mines is a daily driver and have already removed the cruise control and the aircon will be going shortly as will the hicas and auto-box.

Aircon, HICAS and cruise control are already removed from ours, but ours is going to be a full on project car, the resale value in our car will be based on just how good the finish is, how unique it is and how much someone WANTS this car, that said, resale value isn't even in my mind, as I'll NEVER get back what I'll have spent on it by the end.

If you're planning on selling it at some point and you want to maintain it's retail value, modifying it all is probably a bad idea, unless you're going all out project car with it, because funnily enough, a completely stock Z, with everything working perfectly, is probably worth more to a certain market than one that has a few nice mods, with a few things removed and bypassed etc. That said, this particular type of car doesn't usually appeal to 'normal' people, it does in the sense it'll turn their head, but not in the sense they'd ever buy one, so I reckon don't worry about resale value and get on with it ;)
