well, I've lost a good friend to someone who was using there phone while driving, but just had a reminder sent in a email about the dangers of it, as it was a PPS file, I've taken the images out of the PPS file so i can put the post up. anyway, i think the pictures say more than i ever could. (not sure if some of you have had this emailed to you already but for those that haven't)

i think people are concentrating to much on the details and forgetting the message its trying to get across.

Women can't drive??? (ooohhhhh :hang:)

on a serious note, yep, terrible crash, speeding is bad, using a phone is bad, I'm a smoker, and I will wait till I'm stopped and safe before I'll light a cig, all too often you see people looking down their nose at the end of a cig with a lit lighter in their hand instead of the road.

The bike is at a very weired angle, surley if the bike had hit the car at the sorts of speeds being mentioned it would have just gone straight through in an upright position, unless he was taking a left hand bend at between 85 and 125 miles per hour.

Seen an awful lot of motorcycle accidents, both as a paramedic and a motorcycle instructor, never seen one get wedged into a car at that sort of angle. A bike that has hit something at that sort of speed is usually wrecked beyond recognition.

I do however believe in the message it is sending out, not to use a phone while driving, I have seen accidents like this caused by cigarette smokers smoking in the car as well.

And the car is also far too intact to have removed three bodies from and investigated, but, as said, that's not the point...

I know, that's why I said I believe in the message it is sending out.

that wasn't directed at you matey at all, was covering my own back :)

Cheers bud, no worries.

and people changing the radio, and eating crisps, and talking to other people in the car, and dealing with screaming kids in the back, and putting their makeup on, and and and and

When i was young and stupid i used to txt while riding my motorbike puttering around at 30mph... obviously with no traffic etc...

Oh to be 18 and bulletproof again.

not sure that 15mph would of made much difference, possibly the driver might have survived, but doubt the passenger or the biker would have.

Thing is, and I'm just making an assumption here, the motorcyclist was probably doing more than 15mph over the limit. You're assuming it was in a 70mph zone, however notice the VW driver "....pulled out from a side street....!"

Yes, she should not have been on her phone either - which is why I do not use the phone whilst driving (except on hands free to answer a call - and tell the caller I'm drving!). But pulling from a side street onto a 70mph road is unlikely (possible, but unlikely) - so at best the limit could have been 60mph. My guess is that it wasn't.....:crying:

Still - it's a powerful reminder to us all.

Richard:scared:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
