I'm not stopping at just spraying the inner dial surround :D

These will get the full treatment - silver and gunmetal grey with a ridiculous amount of lacquer and smooth strokeable finish ;p

.... yes, it's going to take a while lol ::rolleyes1:

The OCD bit. Because It is NOT an automatic and the rear wiper CAN'T go on because of the spoiler that's going on the car, I really hate seeing functional switches and displays that are not used so I have to 'delete' those too :)

Where the cruise control switch was, there is a nice bright 8mm wide beam blue LED behind it so I'd appreciate ideas on lighting that up eg with a 'NISSAN' logo. The switches are actually clear plastic when you rub them down :) Vinyll Nissan sticker / spray over/remove at the end?... sounds tricky. Cut out a hole, get some diffuser paper/and vinyl?

First fun... completely dismantled pods :)

Bit of fibreglassing.... I'm now onto a bit of body filler and more sanding.

Unfortunately the sexy little Apexi turbo timer I took a chance on ordering off Ebay that I was going to build in just doesnt work so I'm going ahead without it. :) We got half the price back off the supplier because they REALLY dont want the bad feedback, fingers crossed we can get it to work. I hope so, because even though I have to fix the 'brand new' cosmetic damage, because the digits light up in blue.

Looks well smart but are you going to be able to see it past the steering wheel?

Not a problem, all part of the masterplan

This is kind of why I popped up with the steering wheel replacement thread to battle that one out a bit. The standard wheel does have a slight interference but with the gauges being angled upward slightly, it should look fine. The momo steering wheel looks to be slightly smaller than the standard one to me? In which case we'll be laughing :)

I have them well secured in place but now have a bit of hidden jigerrypokery to do to recreate new brackets for the pod fronts to 'hook' up into. The original metal brackets won't fit in with the gauge holders. :)

That's a blinged up gullwing wheel from KIT :lol:

They are not perfect yet, this is first primer so onto the fine finishing through the week. :)

Cannot wait until the finished product here, looks very exciting........

Alz.

Looking forward to seeing it face on with gauges in situ.

Looks like they will be more visible than first thought.

Impressive.

Arrrrgh, !!!!!!!!!!

I should have already done about 1/2 hour more sanding on these things by now.

Instead, I'm sat on a crapple Mac at work, well over an hour from home waiting for an AA truck to tow me. So saddo here is having to sit looking at pics instead lol.

Yeah note to self, never buy a renault again!

Lol,

Their French what do you expect, quit and surrender is a trend with them !!:innocent:

Don't forget the whilst eating cheese bit, it wasn't eating cheese, so we didn't expect it :(

the worst of it is I was going to get on with the boot build again finally.

The Z WAS booked in for the boot welding, which meant I could continue with painting, sound deadening, new false floor, and finishing the build right after these pod mods. But with the Espace broken, and the Alfa not yet resolved, the welding is now cancelled :(

Will be a fun drive to Leeds in the Z tomorrow though :)

Ok, so forced into a day off to juggle cars today... so spent half the day sanding lol. Hoped to be showing you a pic with it in some colour but I have a few more things to resolve and have had enough for today.

Apart from being so anal about it and wanting to make sure it's smoothed out yet again, I have a fitting issue on the right hand pod. I'll sort that, but the main thing is I really dont like the blanked off button.

The right hand blank space needs something in it because it looks unbalanced aside the busy left pod but putting other buttons in is out of the question considering the circuit board pressed up behind it. All I could do that's 'trick' is cut something in there to light up with the nice blue LED behind it.

It's been said before that lighting up the word 'NISSAN' would be a bit naff? ... and the car doesnt have a name so am flummoxed as to what to put in there! ...... ideas? :)

Right hand pod...

All the rest seems to fit hunky dory so far though :)

WELSHZ ... THANKYOU thankyou thankyou for sending the broken turbo timer .... you can see the screen in the test fit :)

Nah, that right hand pod is still looking a bit bare to me :)

A bit late now but why didn't you use a pod with a cruise control switch?

Looks good, but i would put the stock black blank back in imo

Because I didnt have one, didnt want to pay for one, couldnt be arsed to look for one, and mine will look better than a stock blank :p

Nah, that right hand pod is still looking a bit bare to me :)

Nah, it's just the contrast between the colours, won't look anywhere near as obvious when its all the same colour, looks ace
