I'm not stopping at just spraying the inner dial surround :D

These will get the full treatment - silver and gunmetal grey with a ridiculous amount of lacquer and smooth strokeable finish ;p

.... yes, it's going to take a while lol ::rolleyes1:

The OCD bit. Because It is NOT an automatic and the rear wiper CAN'T go on because of the spoiler that's going on the car, I really hate seeing functional switches and displays that are not used so I have to 'delete' those too :)

Where the cruise control switch was, there is a nice bright 8mm wide beam blue LED behind it so I'd appreciate ideas on lighting that up eg with a 'NISSAN' logo. The switches are actually clear plastic when you rub them down :) Vinyll Nissan sticker / spray over/remove at the end?... sounds tricky. Cut out a hole, get some diffuser paper/and vinyl?

First fun... completely dismantled pods :)

Bit of fibreglassing.... I'm now onto a bit of body filler and more sanding.

Unfortunately the sexy little Apexi turbo timer I took a chance on ordering off Ebay that I was going to build in just doesnt work so I'm going ahead without it. :) We got half the price back off the supplier because they REALLY dont want the bad feedback, fingers crossed we can get it to work. I hope so, because even though I have to fix the 'brand new' cosmetic damage, because the digits light up in blue.

you have some mad ideas lol!!!!

You would off been better fiberglassing the rear and using plastic filler on the front. would of been much easyer to get a nice smooth flush finish

  • 2 weeks later...

Good news is, we have got the Apexi turbo timer working so it's time to build in the cars "Auto destruct countdown" ... hopefully to look like it was supposed to be there :)

Not much of an update on the rest, but an update anyway.

I think the pods look much more symmetrical with the rear wiper control gone.

I'm thinking about adding an extra push button just to the left of the steering.. fill it out a bit.

Coming from you, I take that as a massive compliment :D

I seem to get on ok with putting the tissue on the from aswell as behind. Usually for something like this I reach for the really fine tissue and still using the remains in the bottom of the hooge tin of fine body filler I got for the boot install. It's all smooth now, and the only thing stopping me painting it is making sure I've finished faffing with it :)

why are you covering up the switch holes rose ?

I cant stand seeing unused switches :p. I think it looks better for being less busy :)

Admin, would this thread be better suited to the new ICE/Electrical forum now? If so, I'd be cool with you moving it, cheers. :)

doing the same thing at the moment getting rid of where the rear wiper switch is and the cruise control

copycat :p :)

So this means yours is going to be all painted up inside too then... looking forward to seeing it and we can pick at the quality of eachothers paintwork :D

Well it's on hold from painting yet again - just been picking a few more things of my ebay wish list which fortunately is now getting quite small :)

2x 52mm single gauge pods are on their way for a bit of fibreglass fun, and matching smoked face gauges to go in them.

One Oil temperature gauge and one Boost gauge :)

Then the Horn button and hazard switches

So I've got to await the arrival of this lot and get it all built in yet.

All going blue on the plastics inside is it? :)

I really like what you've done with the turbo timer :) Good work!

Shame we've currently lost the black 'apexi' filter screen to go in the plastics AAAAAAAAAAARRRRGH Either the dogs nabbed it and eaten it (Not unlikely, after all he's so far eaten a duvet, £60 in £20 notes, all sorts of pens, pencils, paper, etc. etc.) or it's been put 'safe' and now Rose can't remember where because it's such a 'safe' place. :D
