Knocking from Engine???

Hard to explain but here goes... when the engine has warmed up I get a knocking through the gearbox lever which can also be felt and heard on the engine. When I am in neutral it seems to be louder than when I engage a gear. The oil pressure and engine temp seem fine...any ideas please?

    it could be the thrust bearing getting slightly worn does the noise change when you dip the clutch even if you dont engage a gear
