thinking of having the boost turned up since been to zedworld and given clean bill of health

can anyone tell me what this involves and who or where to have it done

2 ways of doing it.

boost jets, which is essentially 0.8 welding tips inserted into a pipe

Or

Boost controller - either manual or electronic

best to have accompanying mods, like air filter, decat, chipped ecu

if your chasing large amounts of power, then it gets expensive with things like.

pistons, cometic headgasket, rods, injectors.

depends what power your chasing, most say you can get 14psi out of stock internals on standard injectors, i have no idea about my last engine but it was pushing 16psi using boost jets with a chipped ecu, airfilter, decat exhaust and it ran fine and was very fast.

have air filter chipped ecu and mongoose exhaust jeff recons on standard internals and the mod ive got 15psi is ok

I'm going to have to add here, do not use a manual boost controller, they are absolute crap and you get boost spikes, electronic boost controller is always stable and in cabin adjustable.

Cost you more, but not as much as a screwed engine or turbos.

have a look in my for sale thread i have a blitz dual-sbc and a blitz 60mm boost gauge and pod for sale, the boost controller fits nicely in where the clock goes as well:thumbup:

Have got an electronic boost controller and a central 20 ecu with a DTA chip and one grade cooler ngk iridium plugs, apexi filter and full stainless de-catted custom downpipes mated to a mongoose system in mine and running 14.5psi and she goes like a rocket.

As already said best to have other mods (chip etc) to compliment a boost increase :)

As Zedzilla said...... Do not go for a manual boost controller, bad news matey. IMHO, welding tips can be just as bad. If you have a good engine, then go for an EBC (electronic boost controller) gives all the correct info and safe guards the the engine.

Alz.

for the record just had mine dyno'd

running zedworld chipped ecu and their boost jets, full decat exhaust and good filter, much cooler hks plugs.

std internals and injectors and the fuel map is perfect at 0.8 BAR or 12psi, any more boost and id be running lean, (which isn't good) can only talk for my zed,

what chip have you got? seems a bit strange a chip without a boost increase?

You able to post up the dyno sheet for us mate?

What was it kicking out?

iirc they are mapped for increased boost, can someone confirm this?

on a jwt ecu my car went from 9 to 11.9 psi with no boost controler with that same map zedword turnd it up to 16 psi with 555 injectors with boost controler if this helps

ill see if i can find the air-fuel-ratio one, but it was ~12.0 under full 0.8 BAR boost (3000rpm onwards) and ~16.0 at idle.

bearing in mind it's an auto was 270RWHP (rear-wheel not flywheel) and was a nice smooth curve, i wanted more, but it'll do for now
