Hi people im new here..... on friday i went up to newcastle to buy a generator off a fella to get there and he has a v8 audi and a 300zx swb 2 seater on the drive.... ive always wanted a 300zx but i dont really know their value... this one had been de-turbo'd, fabric interior, needed a new rear passenger wing and some attention to the driver side inner sill.... it had a full stainless exhaust on it... sounded beautiful..! how much do you think a 300zx would be worth in this condition..? Thanks Jono

forgot to say the reason i ask is because he said make me an offer...! i intend to if it isnt over my budget... Jono

de-turbo'd? dont you mean a non turbo version lol (not all 300zx's are twin turbo)

probably worth a few hundred quid if it need's that much work doing

Perhaps somebody on the forum local to you wouldn't mind checking it out with you if you are serious.

Better if you could go around there and get pics of the rusty sills, also check underside of bootlid for rust and there are other places they can go too, the uk members are alot more schooled on how they rust over there though, i'd highly advise getting a member to look over it with you before buying.

i would go there but its 45 miles away and im broke from my big spend on friday..... only enough money to get me to work for next week untill pay day again lol.... and i will more than likely ask a member to escort me and make sure i dont spend money on another banger lol... how do you get the the local area on here...? i can find the north east but its for events and meet ups....

Just post up in general chat asking for someone near his town/village to accompany you. Most of the members on here will be happy to help if they can. Rusty sills are definitely worth checking out, unless you can weld yourself and don't go for OEM parts through MJP, it's going to cost you the best part of a grand to get the parts, get them welded in, get the painting done to finish the job, etc. I know cos I've done it recently and my paintjob once all the welding etc. was done, was the cheapest part of it all at £60.

the father in law can weld... we previosely done my mk1 fiesta that needed near enough every panel doing.... and then the other halfs cousin is a mechanic so i can get alot of help fixing it up at a price 'a bit' cheaper than the norm... the costly bit like you said will be parts

In answer to your original question mate... What's it worth?... Not a lot probably.

These are great cars with sooo much personality, but they are a massively undervalued piece of motoring. Have a look through the "cars for sale" area on here and other sites and you will see that £2 or £3k can get you a cracking car, you will also see people who have spent thousands and thousands in upgrades and a very high performance and well put together motor struggle to get half of what has been spent on it, and at the other end you will see tatty ones exchange hands for pennies (relatively speaking)

You are looking at a SWB which are rarer and command a bit more dosh, but my advice is that since these cars do require continuous maintenance and most people here will tell you how much they've thrown at their car over the years, I would advise you to try and get one that doesn't need loads doing to it, just to get it roadworthy.

However, if you can do the mechanics, welding and bodywork, then you might just create a masterpiece that is guaranteed to turn heads wherever you go.

Does it have a solid roof as opposed to a targa top?

Auto or Manual?

What year?

Import?

Certainly the SWB variants are desirable and it will be great if it can be brought back into service.

Impossible for us to value without more info and some pics would excite us all on here very much, so help us out a bit here :detective:

Oh those ones.

Yeah i can't afford one of those lol.

my advice, unless you can buy it for a few hundred and your prepared to do the work yourself walk away. that sounds like abasket case de turboed.... er yeah ok. buy one that is closer to what you want they are cheap enough as it is.
