Got round to doing the fuel pump ecu modulator, wasn't as bad a job as i was expecting, here's what i found on the old one.

Top right pin a little black and burned, and the connector in the plug didn't look to healthy either, it still gives a good connection after a clean up though. tested the resistance to one of the other pins so convinced the cable is ok.

Took the old ecu apart to see what it looked like inside and to be honest it didn't look that bad, i was expecting a nasty smell and loads of black shit but it basically looks like its just that one pin that's gone tits up. nothing else seems to be at fault.

I give up on the spot the difference, I'm never any good at them. I could never 'spot the ball' either :(

Andy, you have a rival! lol

Love to see this kind of thing :winkiss:

Took my number plate 'slicktop' one off today as I am having a change from red and going to green, pics will be posted as this is the law :whistling:

It just turns out that both numberplate bulbs are on, they're white L.E.D I think after i fitted the illuminated panel they dimmed, must be because i wired them in parallel. I've got plans to add a switch at some point so I'll change them to series then.I suppose they could do with a good wash like too.

I thought it was illegal to have different color lamps for the numberplate?

as for the spot the difference the bottom right number is different, I thought it was a manufacture number meaning the new one is 111 units younger than my old one.

The rear number plate does not have to be illuminated with clear/white bulbs, as long as its lit and visible from whatever metres then you are fine, stay clear of blue would be my message as the police may frown on the use of this colour :cool3:

mite have to have a go of them then, wouldn't mind red, it is the theme i'm going with.

The centre panel was a right **** of a job though. it's the type with the tinted film on it, so had to paint it to black it out and silly me bought spray paint. so the film didn't like that and started to separate from the plastic. so i had to rub most of it off and then just spray the hole thing. took a canny while.

95% of the panels are transluscent, it seems to be the later ones that are not and these need the 300ZX scraping off for this outline to then show through once backlit.

To black out the required areas and anything you have scuffed, I use Black acrylic artist paint, about 3 coats and painted on with a small brush.

Did you not look in the How-To section?

Or, did you make it up as you went along

Got a link to where you got that info mate? I ask because my MOT tester for the last ten years told me the light had to be white, when I needed to replace my number plate lamps with LEDs and I bought white but ended up with Yellow, had to go back and replace them. Obviously after 10 years of testing my cars and wherever he can giving an advisory instead of failing the car etc. I trust him pretty well. But if you got this info from somewhere, I can change my LEDs and update him, lol :D

No link, I had a discussion about it specifically with the MOT tester back in March, I expect your tester may need to have a read up, is attitude like many could well be that clear bulbs as always been the way!!!

Guess I'll have to do something silly like read the MOT testers info, lol. He's always known the silly little rules and how to get around them, things like when my speedo broke in my capri and it's a gearbox off job to fix (Common fault, plastic cog in the box) he just said "You don't need it for an MOT" lol He's always seemed pretty up on new changes too, I remember him testing my GTR as an import and therefore at the time, not giving it an emissions test, where now, they (The yellow Z, our old Estima, our VR4) require a basic emissions test, etc.

why didnt you just fix it :s takes like an hour to pull a capri gear box and whack it back in. done it a few times.
