What percentage of the profit from sales of this is going to the forum owners??? I don't see why members should have to pay and yet businesses get free advertising...

Where do you draw the line between those who are regularly buying scrap Z bits to sell on here and the people who are running a small business helping us lot out with cheap gear?

I happen to like lining the pockets of the guys on here - maybe they will give me a call when they need some I.T stuff doing.

Business does NOT work by ripping the piss though. Businesses under normal circumstances have to pay for advertising but now this is gettin outta control..... Maybe I'm by myself on this, maybe I'm not but EVERY fuckin time everyone just goes along moaning and then won't say anything here - well I will!!!

Sorry Andy but I agree with Chris on this. I come on here both for the techy advice and also to get access to people/companies selling things that work ok on 300's like mine. Most importantly I want to hear when someone bought something from someone on here and how well or bad that it performed so that I can either spend my money wisely or not waste my money on something crap. I understand why you get uptight about some people/companies not giving some support back to Craig or Nico, but if they were that bothered about it then surely they would both delete the threads they add and/or stop these people getting access to the forums. As they don't then they must feel its ok. But hey keep on getting stressed about it, it ain't my heart your putting pressure on. This stuff ain't worth getting uptight over. England loosing to Denmark or Nissan charging for parts enquiries would be!! My 2p worth and only IMHO JN

I don't normally comment on this sort of stuff, but .....

 

We have a For Sale Forum therefore the advertising/sale of stuff is sanctioned. There are no published restrictions on who can/cannot sell/buy. Fair do's. What niggles me (slightly) is posts in one forum telling people about something in another .... We all have access to all forums.

 

Personally, I feel that traders should feel 'obliged' to provide a small percentage to the forum and in return would perhaps receive a banner ad or something and a 'preferred' supplier type acreditation from the forum.

Craig and Nico did go out of there way to set this up and when it went down it was up to them to sort it out ect.

They have to moderate it ect. I think they should just ban those who take the piss. full stop.

John I understand your point about not getting wound up about it but I do!!! Spending some time on msn during the day with both nico and craig, I know the shit and grief that this causes. We get told that some hardware/software is going to become available from eric and then all of a sudden, shedworld are the uk distributors, lining their pockets - who remembers the "covering costs" discussion??? Seems to me that the "covering costs" was actually buying a new workshop to sting the forum more......

 

Most people on here provide good technical advice (some don't but hey ) - others take the piss......

Anyway, if Craig/Nico feel strongly about this then they should do something about it. Until they do, then in the absence of rules/regulations it is human nature to test the limits and establish boundries.

 

Andy, my initial point was exactly the fact that this was in tech - I never expected everyone to bite so hard....

 

Problem is that Craig and Nico do not have time to police the forum, reading every single post that is put up etc.... They put enough effort in as it is never mind piss takes like this.....

Fact of life is most people who sell goods on this forum have mailed me and craig personally - spoke to us at meets and im now good mates with some of them. The have offered me and Craig discounts on goods and helped us out with other things. Others haven't - Your point is a very valid one Andy - however let use an example.

 

Warren (300z) who most of you think is a c$£t Starts a GB on intercooler GIVEs me a Craig a Free set without even asking us if we wanted them and then barely sells any units to UK customers anyway ! Johnny at GPS goes out his way to help us as he acknowledges how much custom he gets from this site, Smithy, AndyZ, Kris and many others have done the same. Others have not ! The point i would like to make is that their is the human way of doing things then their is the Rite way of doing things !

 

Now were not running a charety here, It is just nice to get some acknowledgement from people that have made tens of thousands off our backs while me and craig are left out of Pocket, Jugling fuckin lawsuits, busy all the time and trying to stop you mad bastards from killing each other every day !

 

This Site is here for the benefit of the UK 300zx community, Me and craig always bare that in mind and any decision we make on future policies are driven from that

Just to set the record straight, I or Zedworld if you like have NO and I mean NO mark up or profit in the software,the Zedworld site is been used to purely promote the product and target the guys who want to know about it (there are zed owners not on this site too)

 

I am happy to help with advise where I can for free as we all do do`nt we? ask the 15 calls I get a day which I am more than happy to deal with as I love talking zeds!

 

I am happy to subscribe to the forum both as a Zed owner and as someone running a very small business that incorporates Zed`s.

 

I have watched and read so many post`s from a the same guys who seem to target anyone having a go at building something worthwhile if they were to know the full implications (time, money,lack of sleep,lack of home life lack of MONEY!etc etc) of running a business of any type they would not condem the very people that maybe able to help them one day!

I herewith apologise for "cross posting" on this forum but I somehow fail to see how a one-line message in two other sections of the forum constitutes cross posting. Had I copied and pasted the whole story out of the for sale section into the general and technical section then yes. But, once again, things get taken way out of proportion by the usual individuals and the rest follow like lemmings. Pathetic if you ask me.

 

Let it be very clear that I am the one who is importing the hardware to the UK, not ZedWorld. I am the one who is taking a financial risk, not ZedWorld, and we are only using the ZedWorld website as a place to store & display Conzult related information and a central point of contact. Neither Jeff, nor I am making money off anyone on this forum who buys this hardware. I buy the unit from Eric, add postage from the Netherlands to the UK and then to your front door. I'm going to have to spend time coordinating postage, financial reconciliations, etc. I am not in this business to make any money. I am a Zed enthusiast and would like to remain so. What I'm getting less and less enthusiastic about is the way some people react on this forum.

 

Craig/Nico, I am going to be in touch with either/both of you this weekend (can't do it now as I'm working odd shifts). We need to discuss a few things.

I agree with both sides here. People who own or run small businesses are doing stuff for people on this forum for usually a cut price for fellow Zed'ers. Bob has given me some great advice on speakers and on alarms. Unbias advice where he is not looking for a sale like most places would. These people have saved most of money and agrovation.

These people do not come on here and perminatly have thier logo up advertising thier work. Bob comes on here gives advice to what people ask HIM.

However if I was running this forum and companies where making thousands of £ a week from advertising on here, I would feel a bit p!$$ed that I was working hard for free and some one is making a lot of money from my hard work.

 

In the end, its up to Craig and Nico, to sort stuff like this out. If they feel they should start to charge companies to post their services, they should. Most compaies, GPS, HITEQ, Safe And Sound etc just have thier site on the link page, and it is US who point new users to them.

Just throwing my 2 cents worth in.

 

I think this forum is a fantastic resource for owners of the Z. Since I joined I have greatly benefited from some of the posts on it.

 

As an open forum it is like an open market with individual posts and adverts placed freely. If the readers of these posts decide to act on them or be influenced by them or not, is purely at their own descretion.

 

I personally don't mind how many ads, posts or offers are posted; provided I have the choice to decide if I want to read them and take people up on them. If I get what is in my own judgement a good deal, then I am happy with it.

 

I understand that people are getting upset about the advertising of peoples services on the forum. But again if you dont like the posts, just dont read them as other people may want to read them and benefit from them.

 

I sometimes get the impression that this forum tends to be hijacked by a few specific members who want to use it as their own personal chatroom.

 

I would like to think that this forum is for the sharing, culturing and stimulation of Z enthusiasm, by providing ideas, hints, pictures, information and services. And not another version of MSN Messanger.

 

Anyway, that was a lot for 2 cents,

 

Don't take anything posted personally, take a few deep breaths and enjoy the 3-0 victory over Denmark.

I've used GrassHopper - Johnny is a top bloke!

I use ZedWorld - They don't come much sounder than Jeff.

 

If I was in a different part of the country I would need to know where I could take my Z to be looked after with as much love and attention.I've been stung by Nissan once, never again.

 

I'm quite technical and will have a go when it comes to things like brakes and clutches on my run about. Dare I say it, if I had to, I would even have a go at doing a few things to the Z if I was very short on Cash and could not afford someone to do them for me.

 

I rely on my Z to get me to and from work every day which is 25 miles each way. My Job pays ok but not that well. If it paid much better, I would have an R34 and have it repaired by Nissan, shrugging my shoulders whilst pulling out the plastic when given the ball crushing bill.

 

Now I know this thread has kinda gone askew but I think its time to lay it to rest.

 

AndyDuff - Whether business' on here pay to advertise or not, that is something that they need to deal with between themselves and Nico/Craig. I couldn't really give a shit. My interest is looking after my pocket as I'm sure it is for most of you on here. If you are able to repair your Z when it goes wrong, my hat off to you. I neither have the time nor the knowledge that the specialists on here do. That is why I/We come in here, and for the occesional laugh.

 

If I have to pay to join the forum - thats not a problem either.

 

I have owned my Z since last September and have spent nearly £2K on it. If I had been having the work done at Nissan, it would have been nearer £4K.

 

The businesses that advertise on the forum are dong nothing but helping the majority of us keep our Z's. So far, I have only heard really bad things about one place on here and I'm sure I don't need to say who they are. By the same token, I have also heard some fantastic things about them. Personally, I have not used them so I can't comment but I must admit that I would not use them by reputation alone.

 

It's information like this that makes this forum a better place. If this forum wasn't here, I would have to sell my Z - END Of Story. When I bought it, I knew that it would need a lot of maintainting but not as much as what it does.

 

As far as the cross referencing goes, that doesn't bother me either. I come on here for some light relief and reading something twice or being deirected to something doesn't wind me up at all. If we're not meant to do it, then I won't.

 

AndyDuff - I'm NOT trying to get at you or wind you up, infact its quite the opposite. When I first joined this forum I thought it was the Dogz Bollox. However, in my opinion, this place went down hill when the main forum was split to General and Techinal. I cant quite put my finger on what it was but that and the petty bollox that came up about the Easter meet just did it for me. I swore to myself I wasn't gonna say anything about that but there ya go.

 

Infact, there have been times when I have come close to getting rid of the Z because of the shit that has been flying around in here.

 

I ordered some "WWW.300ZX.CO.UK" graphics a little while back. I was gonna put them in the Z but refuse to now because of the above.
