Personally i think it's a bit tacky, but each to thier own, i've never done any upholstery whatsoever in my life and i redid all my tweed cloth with black vinyl and it came out mint, only about 20-30 quid of vinyl too.

I am going leather but wondering about the rest of the panels /dash that are just normal black trim. never seen it so just weighing up options

its a pain to keep clean, but it can look quite smart on the right car ie stripped out racer not so much on a road going leather clad sports tourer lol, are you trying to get rid of the terrible glare on the windscreen?

there glare is off my bald head! but i did wonder ablout flocking it...the dash that is! Either that or I trim the dash and rest of the panels. I have paralysis by indecision on this!

Be better to flock your head than the dash if you want to look dapper with the targa's out, i have seen a flocked dash in person before, it was different i guess it could work if the rest is done in vinyl,

id trim it all i dont think flocking would look right its quite rough and hard u could try alacantra looks similar think its quite dear thogh

flocking is an old fashioned interior finish, looks great in an E-type or similar car with old school cockpits and guages but I don't think it would suit a more modern plastic interior.

I just got a metre of 'automotive velour' off ebay and used it on the inside edge of my t tops. It's really nice and soft and looks like alcantara but without the expense. It does have a thin foam backing, and out of experience I now know to use more glue and fit it very well stretched next time. I'm thinking about it for the spare dash - probably £30 of material to get the job done. :) Unfortunately it matches nothing else in the car since the previous owner retrimmed the door panels and undercowling in a shiny black leather so I'll be thinking about it for a while yet

Had me fooled, I thought it was alcantara!

A member on here offers it as a service and there were some panels made up that members were posting around each other to see what it looked and felt like because its hard to tell with the pictures - see this thread...the test panels might still be available for posting by whoever had it last http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=147738

...and his prices were VERY reasonable

"...Ill say tweed areas of a zed around 65quid(door trim/rear quarter/console/lower dash/glovebox cover!) and dashtops 65 quid.Pillar trim 15 etc as a guide.Thats pretty much half price or there abouts to usual. This plus your post/carriage both ways,15-30quid average UK prices.Prefer if you try (without breaking clips etc)removing switches/air vents, basically things you dont want flock going on as this saves me time, keeping my prices lower for you.How much you need coating also makes a difference, the more you need, the better deal I can do it for you."
