Just got my Z today after my last one when the engine blow up. It has a arial on the front was told it was for parking, so you know were the corner is. But if it is how's it work can't find a button for it. Or is it a joke

No it's true, it is a parking sensor but I don't know where the button is as I've never had it.

Someone will be along soon to tell you.

yes it is indeed a parking aerial, not sure how they work as most do not bother to use them. though i suppose id find it quite helpful as i always seem to think the post in front of my car is a lot closer than what it is, so get out and find my back end sticking out all the time. (oo er mrs lol)

I'm sorry, I had to ROFL on that one.

The only aerial type corner antennae I know of are the 99p stick on ones. Its the realm of dangling a cord to hit the windscreen in a tight garage so you know you pulled in far enough without hitting the wall and I highly doubt it has anything technical about it.

If it is actually wired up, let me know though :)

Yeah from what I know, it's literally just a parking mast that gives you a visual marker as to where the front of your car is. I'm pretty much positive it has no technical aspect, you're just supposed to use it as a visual marker. Most folks take it off, but it depends whether you like the look of it or not :D

Pablito will know more as he had one, they do extend or you cant see them when they are retracted from inside the car as they are molded into the front bumper.

Iirc they were a jap spec thing.

It just looks like a aerial in the corner of the bumper. It must be electric as would look daft to keep getting out to pull it up . lol

You mean like many have to with the standard Radio aerial and targas and convertible roofs etc? :D One of the guys round here, has a button in his dash next to his hold button (It's an auto) and it does look a bit like an aerial, but it doesn't do anything when you push it, it has no parking mast on the front though either. Anyone else confirm the presence of this button in their JDM Z?

The switch iirc was on the centre console below the radio. It was a parking aid as already stated and fitted from new on jdm cars.

Yes you're right, not next to the hold button, next to the clock? I can tell my mate what the damn button is for now, because it's been doing his head in! lol Must have been an option from new, because I've seen plenty of JDMs without them.

thanks will press all the buttons tomorrow to see if i can get it up

Edit: text removed due to being to perverted lol

yeah the button is below the stereo, from what I've seen the option is not all that common, certainly in the minority. Might be handy though, I always end up parking too far away from things.

The only thing good about the masts are the OEM thing, they are truly ugly and spoil that corner of the car, take off and smooth out when you can or get some sort of body coloured grommet to cover the hole

no button can be found. Never mined think the car could have belong to some one on here .As the club sticker is on the rear window,

The button is next to the clock as already said. You can't miss it tbh. If it isn't there then perhaps your bumper is a replacement one.

I removed and smoothed mine for aesthetic reasons. I will however be trying to rig up the buttton to raise/lower the stereo aerial.
