i did the same with mine, totally ripped to bit's, cost me 3k in material's

bit of advice when putting the bath in is to get some stuff called "stick's like sh1t" (real name) put it all round the bath before pushing it into place (level it up before putting the mastic round) also when fitting the tile trim's, get the bigger trim's and fill them full of silicone making sure you get plenty of it in the corner's (mitre's), leave it for a good few day's to go hard before tiling, i did it with mine and not a single drop will get through

also if you find with a plastic bath that you get squeek's, spray a bit of foam filler under the egdes against the wall, this will keep it solid and you will get no squeek's

Nice work Dazza! Just done my bathroom too, was leaking around the bath like yours but I have straw walls and they were soaking!

lots of brilliant advice there Al, thanks ;)

also, that waste has a 22mm pipe off it, it look's like a bath overflow pipe

an it look's like the waste goes through where there is a joist, thet will be a bit of a pig to get round, you can cut the joist away but not too much

one thing that works really well in a smaller bathroom is fitting a sliding door. I did that in a friends bathroom, built a false wall that the door slid into.

Vijay

as long as it open's into the radiator it should be ok as it's a dead space

but sliding door's are good in some place's

i fitted a shower bath in mine as it give's you the best of both worl'ds also fitted wash basin and toilet cabinet's as i hate having thing's on show and the cabinet's have drawers in to put all of shell's crap in and the psp for those extra long toilet break's lol

I would leave that radiator wall open and have a large mirror on the wall, again it opens up the room

you can get aquapanel cement board (like plasterboard but a bit more expensive) to use in damp places such as showers, behind bath etc not absorbent like plasterboard and you can still stick tiles directly to it. Also make sure if you use that flexi waste pipe that it is well supported to get the drop you need. It will sag and cause run back into the large shower waste which doesn't have a proper trap possibly causing the shower tray to fill up rather than drain away. It's preferable to use hard pipe and bends if possible.

LOL!-no bath mate,just a shower,that's a 90mm waste for the tray.It falls smack in the middle of the joists-lucky eh?

I like a good hot bath now and again, like after working on the car all day or playing football or something, helps to sooth the muscles, otherwise I use the shower in our en-suite on the day to day.

Haha no I dont, no GF either so im the only one that gets to enjoy it! I've actually recarpeted it from scrap from the other rooms which has improved it and got rid of the hot water tank cupboard. New boiler went in two weeks ago so thats all gone.

You wanna see a rotten floor and puny joists , this is what i found when i ripped our bathroom out , it,s in an extension on the side of the house , whoever built it needs sacking !!!

You can see the floor dipping .

BATHROOM008-1.jpg

When the bath was filled it dropped about 10mm , not surprising when i saw the so called joists !!
