Alloy Wheel Recon nr LHR - Warren? Anyone?

Wazza - a few days ago you suggested a few people like (from memory) Premier for refurbing alloys. I had a search back but couldn't find it (idiot).

I've websearched to find: http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/pricelist.htm http://www.roadwheel.com/wheels.htm http://www.alloywheelrefurb.co.uk/branch.html

Prices seem to vary between £26 to £45 per wheel. They're original alloys with little/no damage. I'm just too bone idle to scrub and scrub and scrub and spend more Autoglym to get them looking OK.

Any experiences with this lot? Better suggestions?

TIA - Gio

I used a company called Spit and Polish who are based in Kent. http://www.spitandpolish.co.uk

Made a pretty good job of mine. Had them blasted a minor repaird done and silver powder coated. Makes cleaning a 10sec not a 10 minute job !

Thanks Andy - that's exactly what I was hoping to achieve! The guys at Roadwheel say they are agents for Spit & Polish. Pick up Tues and deliver back Fri. £45 per wheel.

Spookily, the guys in Hemel also say "pick up Tues, return Fri" - any connection, I wonder?

Does the Roadwheel price seem reasonable to you?

Cheers - Gio

hi spit and polish are not bad, they dont do 3 piece split rims though, and i have no experience of nay of these companies as none of them wanted to touch my wheels lol.

Ended up having a specalist do them at £100 per rim. And he never put any lacour back on so now they mark frown.gif easy

was trying to think of a tasteless remark involving "rim" and "wouldn't touch" and "even for £100" but couldn't think of anything that was more amusing than offensive. So didn't bother. Sorry.

When are you back on the road m8ey? Hope it's soon. biggrin.gif Gio

S&P do a good job on basic wheels, their normal work is refurbs on road wheels, probably not rebuilding expensive racing wheels so for your wheels (Gio) they should be fine. They did a good job on mine. I have a spare set if you need to borrow some whilst yours are being done. Have you got UK spec rears ? If not would be worth getting some before you refurb another sset of "fronts".

Thanks Andy - hadn't thought of that. Does it screw up the handling or anything by putting the "wrong" size wheels on? Or is it a straight swop?

Yours nervously - Gio

Std Jap spec is 7.5" all round, it might alter the handling a little, but the extra width will add a little more grip which is no bad thing !
