Series 1 Stereo wiring - HELP!!

I have a wiring diagram for both EURO and JSPEC. The JSPEC matched up perfectly when wiring up the ISO in my black n yellow one, but now I am trying to re-wire the stereo in the UK grey one.

The diagram I have is pretty useless so I'm wondering if it was for a series 2 UK car, and the series 1 is totally different.

Has anyone got experience with this, or a correct diagram that can help me out?

I searched the forum first and didnt get anything. I dont want to wire thing thing up wrong :sweatdrop:

It's ok, think have found exactly what I need :)

Hi Rose,

I don't think the series 1 and 2 are any different......

....my first ZX was a UK spec series 1 (1991 car) and when I fitted the after market stereo, I just used an off the shelf Autoleads adaptor to convert from "Nissan" to "ISO" connectors.

Then I bought a series 2 (1994) UK spec and just used the same adaptor to fit the same stereo. I have since upgraded to a Kenwood DAB/Bluetooth unit and, I still was able to use the same adaptor.

The only mod I had to make (for both cars) was to link the "live" aerial feed to also power the stock rear amp (as found in UK spec cars) so that the rear speakers worked. Then in view of your super-custom boot build, I doubt you'll be using that bit......!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks Richard. Thing is, I'm having to wire 'straight off the loom'. Adapters would probably have worked in a normal situation but I find the wiring is VERY different.

After hunting for ages, I found another UK spec diagram that is different from the other UK diagram.

Some of the most weird differences are..

There are 2 identical blues - one is a front speaker, the other is switched live!

Illumination is green with a red stripe instead of orange

There are two black with red stripe - one is remote, the other a speaker wire.

If you have no plugs on, it's not that bad because at least further down the wiring the speaker cables have been grouped - but youve got to dig, or its time to take door panels off and get the tester out

I need to get all 3 diagrams (JSPEC, EURO S1 & EURO S2) on one page and post it up I guess :)
