Hi there Guys,

Big dilemma going on for me, I cannot decide to have either 18 or 19 inch wheels,,, Has anyone got any photos for me to have a look at? My main problem is that in general i like bigger wheels, Always have, But in this 1 very rare occasion i cant decide if 19" looks a little big on this car.....

What does everyone think???? Cheeers :taz:

ooooo, Yeah i bet, So what you gonna use it for then Track or Drift or just want the look??

Drift days/ trackdays / weekend twisty playtoy/ daily driver occasionally.

bit of everything really.

But for suspension i've gone with:

BC red coilovers.

Adjustable arms for - rear camber, front camber, rear toe, rear traction, front traction.

Rear subframe lock collars.

Half cage going in early next year :devil2:

Wilcoes i know one thing at a time and all that, but once you got the wheels sorted get cracking on ya engine bay if thats your thing...

Here's mine last week just needs fuel lines put in.

sussed.jpg

where did u get the car ramps from like that ...

Made them, 38mm square tubing, not overly heavy designed to get low cars up. knocked them up in a day. do the job well unless you have a really silly low car.

I'd go with 18s myself - and have!!

Don't get me wrong - there are some fine cars out there on 19s (PaulC's for example). But I will never skimp on tyres as there's no substitute for the best quality rubber on whatever you drive.

So as I stick to premium brands on all my cars (well, Goodyear/Continental/Bridgestone - nothing else will do) economically speaking, 19 inch wheels on a car with a voracious appetite for rear tyres could bankrupt me!! But 18s are not so bad.

As for "rubbing issues" that won't be a problem if you adjust the profiles; since the over all running radius will remain the same. IE 265/35/18 = 265/30/19. No problem!

Fair play yeah my 19's have already got same rolling radius's anyway, Ive had them on but just cant decide so i may change them once every 2 weeks till i come to a decision then sell the latter, lol, Na not really, Them wheels look smart on that car, Quite an unusual colour isnt that? I like the Z center caps aswell ,, Thumbs up Dude....

Just to put rim size and tyre prices into perspective, the following prices were obtained this afternoon from a national tyre merchant and include mail order delivery and VAT (note, these are customer prices, not trade prices):

19-inch rims / Toyo Proxes T1-R:

F: 235/35ZR19 @ £160.31 each

R: 265/30ZR19 @ £185.24 each

Total cost for set of 4: £691.10

18-inch rims / Toyo Proxes T1-R:

F: 235/40ZR18 @ £138.76 each

R: 265/35ZR18 @ £218.28 each

Total cost for set of 4: £714.08

(NB: I'm not sure why the 18" rear tyre is so much more expensive - must be down to supply/demand).

As for tyre wear, this is entirely dependent on (a) suspension geometry setup and (b) your style of driving.

For reference, I don't exactly drive like a granny nor do I rag the t*ts off the car and with the suspension set up relatively aggressively (dialed out understeer, lowered by 30mm all round and with the Stillen adjustable anti-roll bar set to setting 2 out of 3) I managed to get approximately 26,000 miles out of the rear tyres with the fronts still having nearly 2.5mm thread left.

NB: the above is purely for information purposes only. I only checked the prices of Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres as that's what I had on my car for a number of years and I rate them very highly for all weather performance. I merely wanted to illustrate that 18" tyres aren't always cheaper than their 19" equivalents.

I've just bought some 285/40/18's for the back of mine in toyo t1r's, on my last Z i ran toyo proxes 4's.... performed well in the wet, i preferred the RE002 adrenalins in the day, but in the wet they were pretty useless.

Be interesting to see how the t1r's perform.
