I was just going to bed when my alarm went off and I heard a car race off up the road.

Some shit has prized the whole door handle surround/lock panel out the drivers door and opened it.

Are they thick as f**K or what?

There are stickers in the windows saying I have a CAT1 alarm and LEDS flashing that light up half the interior but they still have a go anyway.

Hopefully it's only a new handle/lock and not a whole new door skin required.

The police will be with me in 6 hours. How efficient!

Still it's better than a guy down the street had.

Someone reached through his catflap and got the house key. Cleared out all the electrical stuff and drove off with it in his brand new people carrier while he was in bed!

Very unusual for our area. I have never heard of any break-ins in the 18 years I've lived here. But as soon as I get a Z...

Bugger!

I'm really sorry to hear about this Chris. Same thing happened to me. Those handle/lock sections are BLOODY expensive. The main worry is whether they distorted the door skin whilst doing the prising as that will cost a lot more.

Since they tried that on my car, it now lives in the garage. Just wish I had one of those sentry guns from Aliens in there too.

Same thing happened to me, I got a handle from a breakers, cost me £40 and got Middlehurst Nissan to sort it for me, depending on how badly the damaged the bodywork depends on how lucky you are. I was lucky and they could fix it.

I've had a good look at it in the daylight and I'm lucky.

The door is untouched, just a half inch hole in the handle section and a broken lock barrel.

It still locks on the alarm/central locking which is a relief.

I'll give Nissan a call and prepare to say "You are joking mate!"

Always nice when you have a £450 excess on the insurance.

I just wish I'd got in the car straight away and chased them, they wouldn't have got away from me thats for sure!

Chris,

Really sorry to hear about your car mate, I have an interesting article from a Max Power magazine from a few months back. Basically they sent their editor I think into prison to interview this little shit car thief.

So you can picture the scenario, guy who lives for nice tuned cars and makes his living out of it vs. little 18 year old, spotty faced car thief geezer banged up so not really bothered about what he says.

If I can get it scanned and printed up on the forum I will, you will not believe the things he comes out with. Max Power man asks him if he's put off by smart, expensive CAT1 alarms like Cliffords? His response is "No not really! It does make it harder but then it's more of a challenge isn't it?".

F**k me, I thought the Max guy was going to jump over the table and twat the little bastard, on more than one occasion.

I know how you feel about the doors, although I haven't had my car parked anywhere of my own long enough to have the nice experience of it being broken into. I have noticed in the service history and receipts that it had been done over when someone else had it. Door locks had been replaced and some bodywork was involved, all I remember is that it was not cheap.

Prison is far too good for these people, they should be hung, drawn and quartered...in front of their parents!

Tooley,

I don't know how you survive day-to-day being in Manc Land, I met someone from there once who had an Orion Ghia. I was on a training course in Salford...when we went out for lunch he told me that he'd had his car broken into about 9 times in six months. I'd move!

Car crime isn't too bad in N. Wales, if they're going to nick anything in Wales it's usually a tractor or a Nova...LOL!

i have to pay 3 grand a year to park my beast in a top security car park at work and at home my neighbours hate me as all you have to do is breathe near it and the sensitivity is that high it goes off and sleeping with an air rifle that will kill you at 200yrds helps.its all about making it as difficult as possible for the sterio thiefs more than anything as if your car is gonna be stolen to order it isnt done outside ure house. bolton is the worst place for it as its so easy with so many unmanned car parks.my family are always on at me about me not sleeping properly and being paranoid about security and tell me to get rid but why let the theives win you dont get much time on this earth so why not have as much fun as you can while you can

Hmmmm.

£220.00 for a new lock, door handle/surround and fitting. Extra £25.00 if I want the lock setting up for my existing key.

Another Nissan bargain!

I've been had by two robbing bastards in one day.

Might try and do it myself and save £80.00. Is it an easy job?

My front pads are worn down again too...

Do the bills ever stop? :-(

Eric,

Now that's a system I would pay good money for, have often thought about electrifying the outer shell of me car with 240,000 volts.

Only problem there being that if you shoot a burgular in this country you get life for it! So the burgular becomes the victim.

Can you imagine what the pigs would do if you rang them up and said that you'd caugth a little shite trying to steal your car...and had detained him with a garden fork through the hands on your front lawn.

You'd be the criminal, not him!

I'm moving to the US where the law is so Mickey Mouse that you can get away with anything. Look at OJ and Bill, fantastic legal system...LOL!

Tim, I know...but the webpage says specifically that it is *non lethal* .. LOL !

Oops...sorry officer, but my car sometimes does that..I guess I have a small fuel-leak somewhere ;-)

What we need here is something not far off Michael Knights' KITT(Knight Industries Two Thousand) for all you non-believers out there...LOL!

Titanium shell, used to make me laugh when guys with baseball bats would give the car a good whacking and that puffy voice would make some really aggravating comment like...

"Oh come, come. Is that really the beessstttt you can do???"

Programs like Knight Rider were so camp, don't know how they got away with it when they were supposed to be kids programs.

And how did he drive with that stupid steering wheel???

Chris, that price sounds about right. I paid about 400 for both locks, surrounds, fitting and painting. The place I went to was a rip off (Mark Kass Nissan in Camden) and they did a crap job. Got it re-done at a much better place.

It certainly isn't cheap! It is (apparently) not too bad if you want to fit it yourself but if they have bent the door skins even a fraction, it becomes almost impossible. YMMV.

Good luck mate,

Andy

Heres a good recipie to follow

Take a 12 inch square piece of plywood.

Take 20 to 30 three inch nails.

Hammer nails through plywood.

Place on drivers seat(pointy bits up).

Cover with travel rug.

Damage to ring and tackle is horiffic.

Do NOT forget about your new security system when you get in the next morning ;-)

Paul

...I liked that one aswell, much cheaper than the Exterminator device...LOL!!!
