hi people, my 300TT autobox has had it...... some garage are charging me 1500+ vat to recon it including all the solenoids. wat do you think? could i get it done cheaper + where? pref london area...

Check some other places before paying £1500 for a standard rebuild.

I think SE Nissan(01621 858 856) do the fast-road rebuild for about £1500(inc oil cooler). MAC1 has one of their 'boxes I think.

Places like HiTeq(01942 721778) do the HKS Automatic upgrade kit for £1395.00 which I think includes uprated clutch packs and stronger bands/belts etc, but you would have to get it fitted by someone.

 

I think one guy on here has had his auto rebuilt by a place in Charlton(S.E London) but I'm not sure of the details.

 

I'm not sure what the power limit is on the SE Nissan/HKS autoboxes but I belive it is over the 420bhp which most people belive the standard box can take.

 

One point, however you get the auto rebuilt fit an after market oil cooler as the standard one is not up to much.

the best deal I could find was a place in Bletchley near Milton Keynes...MK Engines....they quote £950 for a replacement auto box FITTED.

 

Mine in currently at their premises so I can't actually vouch if they are any good or not....they do seem to know whatthey are talking about and do have experience of 300 ZX's.

 

I was quoted £1,400 plus VAT to have existing box overhauled dependent upon state of internals.....similar price from Dunstable Nissan main dealer and a couple of specialist auto box people.

I have just had mine reconditioned by Ivan Autos Ltd Tel: 01707-646542 They are in Potters Bar , Herts

 

I was recommended from somebody in the Z Club of GB.

 

They charged £600 for the gearbox, and £130 for the convertor plus VAT on both

 

This is the standard charge. It may be more if there are broken parts.

 

It seem like they did a good job.
