i could really use some advise, just been fitting a few of my new parts, went to go for a test drive and she won't go over 1500 rpm, if it does it cuts power, (not engine)

however if its in park or neutral it will rev freely and sounds perfect???

is this some sort of safety mode? and ideas what to do?

Sounds maf related.

All the det sensor will do is trip it into safey boost but it will still rev as it should just limits the boost.

well the ecu code is 34 det issue,

but what i did was fmic, alloy rad, carbon canister delete, new oil and filter, and new plugs.

i did clean the maf if carb cleaner, but have since tried my spare maf

i've refitted the original maf, (known good until today) and im going to leave the battery disconnected overnight will try again in the morning.

such a shame as the intercooler looks so meen :devil2: only reving to 2000rpm unless you accelerate incredably slowly kinda lets the whole look down though ...

could be a major boost leak. Check you have tightend up all your fmic pipes.

I forgot to tighten up one clip on my hard pipes and i had to crawl home. when i hit a little bit of a hill i could onlt do 10mph lol!

boost leak is more then possible with my zed its had soooo many recently,

the idle doesn't seem to be very if at all different from before.

left it for an hour tried again and its still not working so, ill look for an air leak tommorow

failing that ill look for the hammer...:sneaky2:

id say boost leak, also although it has been done for years by everyone cleaning mafs with carb cleaner is bad mmkay, it leaves a deposit on the wire, halfords do an electrical contact cleaner that works well :)

Think you will find you have piped your intercooler in wrong, you have linked your throttles, there should be a cross over when fitting fmc, as the left hand turbo will blow into the right hand throttle and vice versa.

This is the reason it cannot rev, the turbo`s are blowing into each other and the throttles are acting on each other. A AND B shouild be linked and not AA and BB

Yes all you need to do is swap two pipe on one side, top and bottom ,and thats it.

and yet again my zed is saved by jeff and zedworld.... massive thanks everyone for your help, changed one side of the intercooler round and all fixed :clap::thumbup:

slightly concerned at how much the intercooler sits below the bumper though... lol good job their are hardly any speedbumps in haywards heath... :whistling:

Your not the first to do it mate and doubt you'll be the last.

Many of those kits don't come with specific instructions which doesn't help either.

Yep Jeff always manages to spot the finer detail lol

smithy

so is a fmic seperated into two halfs??

Yes exactly, they appear to be one unit but are two seperate ones locked together.

just come back from a proper run and i think im running safety boost...

the car has a zedworld chip and jets and was boosting about 12psi before and now its more like 7/8psi,

im thinking the code 34 was a real issue here, but in all honesty the det sensor has never been connected properly, i showed it in a picture on the previous page and the wire is broken in 3 places and has been since i got the car. :hammer:

but its never done this before and its not bypassed just broken.

could it be i need to reset the ecu again after changing the intercooler setup?

  • Author

great news after spending the last few days trying to work out how to rewire the det sensor, the wire was just disintegrating... i've managed to get it to work looks a bit of a bodge but its strong and isn't going anywhere, basically had to bypass a large section of the harness with a new wire. for some reason just the black wire was broken the other was fine??

reset the ecu, which on my zed took 90mins???????? tried it after 30 still fault, then tried after another 60 still 34, after another 80 still 34, thought it was actually fubard but after 90 mins.... 55.. quick test drive and all good  really thought it was more major for a while... but i though ecu reset was 30 mins why would mine take 90mins? or is my zed just a bit slow...:blushing:
