Spent the whole weekend fitting our new bathroom, am fooking knackered as its tiles, new suite, fan, light, the lot!

Anyway, I bought some laminate floor as I liked the look of it, wood style clip together jobbie, but on the packet it says 'not suitable for wet rooms, i.e. bathrooms or saunas'.

Does this mean I cannot use it in a domestic bathroom, or is it just saying that I cant use it in an actual 'wet room'?

If it is referring to my bathroom, what could possibly go wrong if I did fit it?

it will bubble when it gets wet . you can always glue the joints to help to seal it but you would be better changing it for a bathroom spec laminate

you beat me to it

It depends on how wet it will get. It will proberly swell up with the water etc and start to creek etc

thanks for the input guys... we have a power shower with a fan that will have over-run,

and obviously a bath mat lol...

Might have to look into bathroom-specific laminate, I didnt know you could get it. Or bodge it with some sealer or is that a silly idea LOL

You can get bathroom stuff though,Got slate effect in mine, cost £100 for 2 square metres mind you !!

Shit! Mine was £20 for 2.4 sq M from wickes, the pack was reduced as the packaging was slightly missing lol

You can get a sealer you can paint/roll over the top almost like a varnish though.

I had laminate in my kitchen once and after a while parts of it had blown/bubbled where water had been spilt and it looked bloody awful in the end. Ripped it up and bought some nice spongy feel lino, looks like wood but without the long term hassle.

Yeah it wasnt cheap, ten year gaurantee with it though.Been down eight now and its perfect still.

You cannot beat ceramic floor tiles in the bathroom, I have just done 5 square mts in mine, marble effect, flexible grout and all that, I have done a very good job (he types beating ones chest!!!!). Cost £10.00 per square metre that's all. Adhesive £15.00, grout £6.00.

Dont fit the wood as you will only have issues in the future as it's practically impossible to keep water off it.
