As per title, I'm trying to get some real world info on Greddy smic's for the zed

*I've got a Greddy 3 row fmic for the LWB but I'm going to continue running a smic setup on the shortie'*

I've seen the thread where a few different manufacturers smic's specs are listed but can't recall ever seeing Greddy smic's on the list, though I know they are available from the States

I'm looking to compile a spec list for future reference of the various smic options available today, to record real world performance gains, in addition to dimensions/quality etc:

- Stock smic's

- PACE smic's

- HKS smic's

- STILLEN smic's

- Z1 smic's

- ARC smic's

- Greddy smic's

- Godspeed smic's

- TOYO smic's

- AVS

- BELL (BIC)

- CZP

and will ammend the list accordingly

cheers in advance for any input fellas

Rgr,

I noticed that they look to be a fair bit thicker than a lot of other makes, but appear to have a smaller surface area than others?

I did quite a large GB on these some years ago mate.

At the time before some of the ebay rubbish cropped up they came just about 3rd place in comparisson figures of the better well known and used SMIC's around.

ARC were top, followed by HKS and Greddy just a fraction behind them.

Greddy cores were renowned for being highly efficient and being thicker than the others rather than taller as most are today.

Idea being that keeping the suface area as close to stock meant cold air forced on the entire area at the point of contact, whereas others had much of theirs behind the indicator or bumper meaning the cold air had to fill the cooler before exiting the exit pipe at the top, if yer know what i mean lol

Cheers bud, I've got some secondhand smic's coming once Mikey gets back from working away, but I figured that as I'm off Stateside later on this month I might take the opportunity to save on some shipping costs on parts

I didn't even realise that Greddy offered smic's for the zed until last night

I see the reasoning behind the thicker core with smaller surface area though

I have fitted Greddy smic's excellent quality as you would expect. I haven't had the car on a RR though to see what the gains were I'm afraid. The added thickness did cause a few problems when fitting as I ended up having to use a smaller washer bottle as well as a custom expansion tank. Might be able to find some pictures OEM against Greedy when I did the install.

yeah ive got them on mine aswell. My Abflug bumper sits perfect and flush with the smic.

But as above the expansion bottle was a little problem.

Interesting, I've got some Stillen air intake smic ducts that are designed for the Stillen smic's which I assume should fit stock bumpers as well as Stillen bumpers, do you need any extra ducting for the Greddy smic's?

I have Z1 SMICs installed - I don't know how they compare to the other aftermarket ones but compared to the stock ones they were hyawje!

Didn't require any ducting as I have the W/Arch front bumper. In fact I had to cut some of the fibre glass away from the end of the ducts to accomodate the Greddy IC's so they fit up against the ducts.
