I'm not one to sling mud about a national company in public but these cowboys are just doing my bloody head in.....

I had previously been subscribed to Tiscali's broadband service for years and never had any problems with the service. But ever since Tiscali and TalkTalk merged, my internet connection has gotten progressively slower. And slower. And slower.:angry:

So much so that viewing a simple YouTube video (or trying to) makes me want to put my fist through the screen. It's painful - each frame ticks by, stopping every 2 seconds to buffer. And even then, if I dare try to open a web page in another tab at the same time, it just cannot cope. And I end up with "oops internet explorer could not....." well you know the rest.:cursing:

Hell, I have a new PC which is 3 times as fast and double the memory of the old one. My router is only a year old. Now, don't get me wrong - sometimes it works fine - but try to surf the 'net when there might be 3 or more people logging onto TalkTalk at the same time (like 6pm Mon-Fri) and forget it.

So TalkTalk - if you oversubscribe, you simply cannot service all the customers to whom you provide a service..... Sort it you XXXXXrs or I'm off. And don't even bother calling me to try and sell your 'phone package - I'M NOT INTERESTED FFS!!!

Can anyone recommend a decent internet service provider - I'll switch right away for one that works when I might want to view 3 pages at once!!!!!

Rant over

Can you get Virgin Media? We're with them, never ever a problem....

Richard

I had major grief when her indoors changed our isp from AOL to Talk Talk, I spend loads of my free time playing COD on the pc online, kept loosing connection in game then would re connect, then someone would phone my house and i'd loose connection again, after phoning their help desk about 8 times over 2 weeks, an hour on hold as they were majorly busy all the time, now it has actually settled down and I do have a really good connection at all times of the day, but I feel your pain lol have been there.

I think from memory when we initially signed up Talk Talk was half the price of AOL with twice the speed and as usual the salesman said it was great......

Hope u get it sorted.

Cheers John

Google sam knows.. you can search for whats available at your switch.. will give you some ideas of who to switch to.

Wont tell you about Virgin though as its a different network completely..

I can recommend Virgin..

yeah talktalk are pants and you never get to speak to anyone in this country when you have a problem just paid idiots that all read the same s*** to you!

Im with sky and dont have any problems

LOL - it seems I'm not alone......

.....keep the suggestions coming please!!

I was thinking of going over to BT - I have no problems with my phone service and don't get a bad deal on that TBH. Anyone have any thoughts/experience with their HomeHub system - they are often sending me info about special offers etc.....?

Probably because you're not at the arse end of the exchange.....

.....well that seems to be the excuse the call-centre spuds in some far away land try to fob me off with......:censored:

Richard:whistling:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I switched from sky - because they were shafted by BT at the local exchange and are currently building their own for mid next year to Talktalk and Haven't had a problem with them at all.

One thing from experience, are you using a cable to connect to the router or wireless ?

If it's wireless you could be having a channel clash with neighbours.

If you've got a smartphone, Android I know, iPhone probably there is a smart app to download called wiEye which analyse the wifi spectrum around you and identify every router and tell what channel it's on. If there is a channel clash then you can change the channel on yours..... It's quite easy but if you want to know how pm me

I used to be with toucansurf and got about 2-4 mbps on average then they got bought out by pipex and I got 6-8 mbps and now they've been taken over by talk talk and now my speed is 15 mbps as it should have been originally! Only took them about 5 years to get it right.:turned:

Your lucky you have a telephone line at all!!:tt2:

not far from the truth there! dont even have a land line phone plugged in! dont see point just use mobile.

AOL and TALK TALK are now connected, we have had AOL for 10 years and when we lost connection the other month the AOL helpline recorded message was stating that a talk talk operative will be with you shortly, but we never had internet connection with them

Strange eh

we changed to talk talk because they promised us better broadband speed. They also told us that if we wasn't happy with it within 3 months we could change back to sky without any disconnection costs.

Well not only was their service sh1te but so was all the crap they told us to get us to join up!

You cannot leave until your 3 months is up(after 3 months you have an official contract with them), You then get a charge from sky to re-connect you + Talk talk charge you to be disconnected from them.

So I paid sky to re-connect and told Talk talk to shove their charges(in a very unpleasant manor, Into a very uncomfortable orifice). they still send me bills and they still don't get any money!

Can you get Virgin Media? We're with them, never ever a problem....

Me too Jane, and never had too much of a problem with them.

I agree with you 100% mate, this is exactly why we changed over to an all inclusive Sky package, and since doing so we've been pretty much problem free with regards to internet service. We are now very happy with our new provider.

however, I'd just like to highlight a point here. Could you explain please the difference between a permitted thread that quite rightly makes other club members aware of an individuals displeasure with a company's product, their poor service and customer care, associated costs and general bad experiences with the company in question (ie.Talk Talk/Tiscali)....in comparison to an the un-permitted thread highlighting similar issues with regards to an individuals similar experiences associated with their dealings with, for example, a company that specialises in a particular type of vehicle.

On the surface the only difference that I can see is that the amounts of money changing hands differs somewhat.

I'm assuming that it's widly accepted that much larger companies such as Talk Talk/Tiscali have expressed there un-willingness to take any legal action against any club in the future, who's members express their displeasure at the service that they have provided?

but back on topic, we live in a small village several miles from Hereford and internet has always been slower here than in the city. It may be that our internet access is a lot slower than most, though we may have just got used to it being 'really' slow (when with Talk Talk) and we now have slightly faster 'slow' access (with Sky)?

That is a good question and as such deserves a valid answer.

This place is an internet forum for car enthusiasts - specifically the 300zx; that we know. National conglomerates like TalkTalk etc spend millions on advertising in order to attract new customers. They also know there are always going to be individuals who have a bad experience with their company but are realistic enough to know that one person having a pop at their service on such a small medium is not going to do them an ounce of harm whatsoever.

I believe there was a similar thread (not started by a committee member, unlike this one:winkiss:) a few days ago about Vodafone. Same thing applies - these are household brands who are big and ugly enough to withstand the odd knock on a relatively minor internet forum which enjoys a limited appeal.

Put an advert in the national press saying these companies are rubbish and it might be a different story though - although any significant brand of a consumer product is still fair game on exposes like "Watchdog."

Back to the car forum point though - our members all have one thing in common; our 300zx. So if there is a particular garage that specializes in maintaining these cars, his/her business relies on people like us for custom. So a damning verdict on such an establishment, via a medium full of potential customers, can and will have a detrimental effect on that business.

If or when it does, that business may well instigate litigation against the individual and/or the club for damages or the loss of earnings those defamatory remarks caused. Let's not forget, once that point is reached, the business may have nothing more to lose!

So the smaller and more specialist the (alleged) wronged entity is, the greater the risk of repurcussion.

Hope that makes sense...

Thankyou Richard I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question :thumbup1:

now as I'm the current CEO of Talk Talk where shall I instruct our solicitor to send the.......only joking

but a well structured reply is always much appreciated

thanks again mate

lol on the ceo post, who is the ceo of talk talk i would not mind a word!!

Edited by ck300z

OOOhhhh interesting list that thanks :) in all honesty the only reason i stay with talk talk is they offer free daytime calls to landlines over others just being after 18.00 and weekends!

yeah...talk talk and carphony warehouse ....

my kid asked me for a cowboy outfit for his birthday.... i said here's 20p go buy Carphone warehouse!!!!

bunch of lying thieving cow paddies... service with a snarl and charge like wounded bull 5h1t5... I wouldn't urinate on them if I was Gulliver and they were lilliputians!!!

They sent me two mobiles when i didn't asks for them, didn't sign for them never the less they got Orange to send me bills for a year, irrespective on a myriad of phone calls.

Finally letters to both ceo's and threats of legal action got it sorted...

Like i said... you know the line!!!!

Ahhh, that feels better...

You know Chris - that can actually work.....

....a couple of years back, BT really let my company down by sending incompetent baboons to repair my BCM system. As I got nowhere by contacting customer services, I obtained the e-mail address for Ian Livingston and sent my complaint accordingly.

Of course, he no doubt got his PA to deal with the issue - but what was impressive was the speed that things were resolved!

Within a couple of days, a very competent technician came out and replaced my BMC server - along with some nice new IP phones for the office. All FOC - and then on my next bill I received compensation; let's just say it was well into 4 figures!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

good one Rich just shows what a e-mail to the right person can do even if it gets passed down the line lol!!
