I would stick with standard plugs on an N/A Chris, you only need colder or uprated plugs if upping boost or running higher power on a TT.

Mine runs sweet on standard plugs.

Hi Chris,

I'm not so sure that the advice was to avoid Iridium plugs in general, or whether it was just a specific make (Denso maybe?). NGK plugs (albeit platinum) were standard in the ZX, so their iridium ones should be the same size. I think it was the Densos that were shorter - hence didn't reach into the combustion chamber as much as the OEM plugs should.....

.....but personally I'd follow the general advice here and stick to the stock plugs!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Personally I'd go with NGK Iridiums. I was told to avoid Iridiums in the TT, but it runs perfectly on them. I last changed mine back in March and when I changed them last week, they didn't need changing, they're sat on the shelf as a spare set now. Both mine and Roses are running Iridiums and I've been using Iridiums in all my cars, including N/A's for quite some time now. They spark way better than platinums, last longer and bring your fuel economy down, but that's just my 2c. Plus, if you buy them from http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk, NGK iridiums are usually cheaper than platinums.

Thanks for the advise there and reported usage :) will check out the link too

That's a REALLY cold plug Phutumsch, not sure I'd be going that low, but then I don't know what you've got in your engine.

EDIT: Oh and if that's the full plug number, make sure to check the gap is correct. Standard should be 1.1, not sure if that'll need to change with it being such a cold plug?

Have got ngk iridiums in my tt, one grade cooler as running higher than standard boost.they were £48 from Conceptua on ebay and free postage and free sweets!, so was chuffed with that.changed them last weekand shes running as sweet as :)

I read up and with my fingers crossed I think this colder type should be ok for what I am adding, not sure about the gap though, I have taken your comments on board and will pay attention to it when I get round to fitting.

Yes that is the full plug number.

Many thanks

I only bring it up because certain GTROC members in the old days used to buy that same plug and gap it down to about 0.8 or 0.9. The reason being that the increased boost is the reason for running a colder plug and of course increased boost can "blow the candle out" if the gap is too big. Good luck with it, hopefully you made the right choice. Definitely on Iridiums :D

Customary these days for quite a few car part manufacturers to send sweets with the product. Driftworks do it too.
