The place that is going to map my car told me that I had to remove the apexi safcII because there would be a problem with nistune ånd safcII. Is this true?

If it is how do I change to Doolz with 2 maf sensors in nistune?

It can be mapped around, but realistically, NIStune is better than the SAFC and can control the fueling amonst other things, so remove the SAFC and sell it then put the money towards other mods.

Basically, why have 2 devices (SAFC & NIStune) doing 1 job (controlling fueling) when NIStune can do the fueling, timing, cold start, setup for bigger injectors, different MAF, etc, etc.

By "Doolz" do you mean a dual intake with 2 MAFs? If so then simply use a Selin Dual MAF Translator. ;) The Selin is a plug & play unit that converts your 2 MAF signals into a single signal the ECU can understand and works perfectly.

Simple bin the nistune

You have got to be having a laugh, NIStune is far better than the SAFC II, it basically makes your stock ECU fully mappable and is 1 less unsightly box in the cabin. It does all the SAFC does and more, so why bin the better product?

What im saying is there is better engine management than nistune no laughing matter

Yes there is far better managment out there, but it depends, does the OP need the likes of a £1000 LinkG4, Vi-Pec, MoTeC, HKS F-Con, GEMS. The PowerFC is old and out dated, the L-Jetro is totally pointless and the D-Jetro is the only one worth looking at if you desperately need or want SD without paying £1000's for an ECU.

Not to mention you loose all diagnostic features, limp home mode, etc when you ditch the stock ECU. It all comes down to what the OP needs. No point spending the money on an ECU with LC, ALS, NLTS, etc, etc when it's a road car and all the extra features will never be used.

Personally, I love GEMS ECU's & the LinkG4, 2 awesome ECU's and I have worked with MoTeC ECU's on a fully blown Rally-prepped Evo 8 with throttle kicker, etc. However for the OP's application there is no need for all that stuff when NIStune will do the job 100% perfectly fine at a fraction of the price.

Even some of the BDC cars run NIStune, so it's not a crap managment system, it just makes the stock ECU mappable via the consult port, and if that's all the OP needs why chuck money at something he will gain no benifit from?

I really do not understand why people chuck thousands at a top-end ECU on a car that spends 95% of it's life on the road. If you need the functions, go for it, or if you have money to literally throw away then go for it, or if the car already had a better EMS fitted then keep it, but other than those reasons, on a road car there is no point in spending thousands on a top-spec ECU.

Oh, the only other reason would be if the stock ECU was not mappable which only leaves you with the choice of PowerFC or better (unless you fancy building a MegaSquirt system), however this is not the case here.

:punk::thumbup:

If you set all the corrections in the SAFC to 0 and just use it to add the MAF signals (assuming you have 2 MAFS) then it's fine.

If you only have one MAF then yes, bin it.

dont bin it sell it me i said lol

Just go find which bin he chucks it in mate, free of charge then eh

smithy

The Nistune is a great bit of kit for mapping the stock ECU. its all about the quality of the mapping, not the equipment used.

The SAFC its an inferior band-aid system, used to alter fuelling that should of be mapped properly at the ECU.

Isn't Doolz traditionally 1 MAF and 1 dummy MAF? Anyway, If your running 2 active MAFS then then the ECU will only read the single MAF signal, so you would need to half the reading in Nistune.......or use a Selin controller with is a popular option these days as Herman said, or just use the SAFC to deal with the dual intake only as John said.
