Boost controllers

Hi All,

Can anyone advise on a suitable electronic boost controller for a Z32 1990 import TT?? I know the Blitz DSBC will work OK but are there any suitable (and cheapish) from another manufacturer - my choice seems a bit limited at the mo'. I don't want to use a manual one.

Do they have to be a DS setup??

Cheers!

HKS EVC EZ or Greddy Profec B are the cheaper EBC's that can be used on a Zed.

I got a DSBC Spec S for sell if you are interested please e-mail me.

OK, thanks guys but I still don't know if I can use single solenoid devices?? I'm presuming I need a solenoid for each turbo....(?)

Cheers!!

Why do you want to run a different boost on one turbo to the other ?

ummm...no, I don't want to run a different boost. Please excuse my ignorance, I've never fitted one before and presumed that twin turbo=dual solenoid...

If this isn't the case, what's the advantage of a DSBC over a SSBC??

Cheers (again!)

I had an HKS EVC IV fitted to mine recently and it is the dogs b******s.

Hi,

Most boost controllers are only designed with a single turbo in mind, including the Blitz DSBC. It uses two solenoids instead of one for 'better boost response' or whatever. I think the theory is by modulating two solenoids you have greater control over air going through the hose.

Even with the DSBC you will have to take the wastegate hoses, join them together with a tee piece, then connect to the solenoids. Then do the same for the other side. Same procedure for a single solenoid. When I did this on my car I tried to keep all the hoses as short as possible, and made sure both sides were as even as possible.

I think a manufacturer called grid used to make a EBC specifically for turbo cars, it has two solenoids, one for each turbo. The idea is you locate the solenoids really close to each turbo to improve the boost response.

ThankZ

John

Rob,

I wasn't being arsey with you bud, Just wanted you to figure the point out for yourself.

The Fact has now be explained by the other guys - Since you want uniform waste gate actuation from both turbos (since Boost is equalized across upper intake anyway why would you want anything else) you can make do with one solenoid - The Dual SBC name is a bit missleading as it still only has support from one Solenoid controller even tho is uses two solenoids if you get my drift.... so basically you just T the inputs and outputs together as someone else said and hey presto One solenoid control Module (X solenoids perhaps) and nice wastegate controll !

Basically if you aren't to up on EVC's then get the EZ EVC from HKS as Lymon mentioned it is a good EVC and easy to use Phone GPS for a good price.
