are u sposed to drive with it hooked up? tryed it for a few mins but ran like a dog, so i pulled it out, also read that timing was sposed to be 15, in the playback of the short run it fluctuated between 25 and 45?????

was hoping to get to the bottom of my lack of boost with this, but no luck so far

You need to get the engine up to temp before taking any notice of the readings, but looking at what i know so far,

Tps should be 0.44

AAC 15% at idle

Timing 15deg

Get the engine warmed up and run it again.

you can't tell the true timing set up from the software (well mine was set to Zero but was reading 15 on conzult).

you have to use a timing light.

and yes the timing will change as you drive... the ecu controls it... V is for variable..lol...

as mentioned you need to bring it up to temperature before you start changing any settings otherwise you will going round in circles then stick up the readings.

dan. :cool3:

Since its still in cold start mode, but your revs are that low and you say it ran like a dog.....then it seems like you may not be running on all cylinders.

warmed up version, cylinders are fine, turned em off 1 at a time to test. definatly running in safety boost tho, just been for a good blast up to brecon (another £50 of petrol gone)

I am only a novice mind,:blushing:

but I think your timing is a bit too advanced.

I would not recommend to many more miles of enthusiastic driving at that setting.

Not a great lot wrong there, however if you look at a few of the figures some adjustments may be needed.

TEMP.jpg

Starting with the running temp, any kind of adjustment needs to be done at full running temp which is 80c your is close so you should be ok but would be aware that if there is any suggestion of cool running ( thermostat issue) that value could change on the road and drop you into safety boost.

tps-1.jpg

Tps value is at the top of the scale, and although the tps setting is more important with auto`s its good to get it right and 0.46 is a nicer setting, however before adjusting check the throttle balance first as if this needs changing it will effect the final figure.

RPM.jpg

Engine speed looks a tad low, northing major but suggests the base idle need raising slightly. 850rpm is about right

AAV.jpg

Auxillary air valve opening should be 15% or as close to it as possible, the slightly raised figure of 20% suggests the base idle needs raising slightly, this is born out by the low rpm above also.

TIMING.jpg

Normal base timing is 15 deg btdc, 25 deg btdc is a common setting when the gearbox neutral switch has failed or not been connected ( auto to man conversion ) no issue but be aware when checking timing with a strobe you must apply the 25deg setting not 15 deg.

So in conclusion not too bad and a few tweeks will have it running tip top.

cheers dude, will have a tinker in a bit, daft question but would resetting the ecu get me out of safety boost?

No, will only reset an old code, if there is a continued fault with the det circuit it will stay.

just had a look at adjusting the base idle, found the yellow bit but darent pull it it out, can only just get my fingers to it and can see problems getting it back in!

You can do it matey I have faith in you, the connector clip maybe still in place holding it down, move the cable loom above it over a bit to see it better.

ok ive been brave and taken the yellow cover off, but cant see any screw to adjust?? i am looking at the right thing?........

The adjustment screw is in the end of the aac pictured, you might need to move the battery slightly to access it. Look at the unit from battery level and you will see the screw, sat in a slight recess

The crudy state of the connector may well be all of the problem, get some WD40 in there and then scrape around with a stanley blade.

you need to read what Jeff said!!!!

Is your's an auto to manual conversion with the auto ecu still in use?

It says neutral switch off on the read out, so 25 degrees is fine, as I doubt he did the test with it in drive or in gear...

yes... if it's an auto that is OK but you really need to check the timing with a light!!!

and the TPS and AAC are still wrong....

this was similar to mine and it was the timing that was causing it.

Conzult showed 15 TDC but when I put a light ion it it was at Zero.

it seems that the ecu compensates.... well thats what it looked like to me ...

without taking a blowtorch to the engine, it aint going to 80, i did that last test after a 20 min run and leaving the engine running for 10 mins

OK... but what about the other settings... and it's also possible there is something wrong with your temp sender unit.. unless you have some fantastic cooling system...:)

did you do the timing with timing light?
