The opieoils website recommends 5w30, so surely 5w40 isnt too thin.and the viscosity when hot is surely the same as 10w40, as the 40 bit is the same......or am I missing something?. :)

Not the great oil debate again, It's all down to personal preference.

I have opie oils 10w50 ester Fuchs ready to go in mine

have seen the long winded threads regarding oil.......would just like a simple yes or no as to whether 5w40 fully synthetic is ok :)

i had semi synthetic 5w 40 and when i took to zedworld they replaced with a thicker oil, and she sounds much better.

No, you're spot on with that mate!!

As for the 5w30 - that is too thin; Nissan recommended a 10w40 originally so the "40" part is most important. I'd certainly not use a "30" rated oil in a 17+ year old twin turbo engine where engine compartment heat is a major issue!

So to answer the original question; yes Castrol Edge 5w40 is just fine for a 300zx.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
