Trying to sell on eBay has proved to be more trouble than it's worth.

The winning bid was from an account created the day the auction ended with the username just all letters and numbers like someone had mashed the keyboard with their hand. Couldn't contact them so I assume it was fraudulent.

Offer the next highest bidder second chance, they fuss about for about a week and say 'Oh sorry no, bought another now'.

So I'm stuck with something I can't sell... urgh...Anyone dealt with Car Buyers Wales in the past? I'm sure they'll offer me about a third of that when I take it into them but I just want shot of it to be honest.

Hi ya jimmy, we don't mind you voicing your opinion about how ebay is a pain in the ass sometimes, but I've edited to post so it still makes sense.

you need to be a subscribed member to sell on the forums, but ive left your original question in in regards to car buyers wales as someone might be able to help you out with that.

I know its an advert as such and there is a genuine reason for the question. but please be careful with the wording matey.

Hi Vodkashots,

I'm sorry if it sounded like I was insinuating that someone on here may wish to buy it, it wasn't my intention. I was just having a moan, that's all.

Cheers

Sorry, thought this thread referred to people who use ebay generally. Could try selling your car in the real world fella. Check with Zedworld, see if they are looking for a scrapper, if you're really desperate. Oh, and of course, there's always

We buy any car.com

Wales Car Buyers or whatever they're called are pretty similar I imagine, although We Buy Any Car seem to price everything wayyyy lower.

I assume they won't offer me their Online valuation figure so I'm taking a huge hit on it whatever happens. It's been a good car, but no emotional attachment, just frustraiting that it's come to selling it in this method.

I love everything about cars, with the exception of selling them, it's not losing memories or history or any flowery rubbish, not the money either - just the hassle!!

we by any car offered me £650 for my last zx twin turbo before the panel damage, pfft its a bit obvious they want to pay as little as possible for cars, hell even my insurance realise its worth more than that.

Pistonheads fella

Never had any trouble selling cars on there.

That's another part of the problem, to reinsure it would cost more than it's value. Being a young (22) male, and having my no-claims already used up by the ZX I can't afford to reinsure it to run through the winter or anything, ideally it needs to go before the start of October.

I'd anticipated eBay would have been the easiest solution, baut pparently not

Without turning it into a fore sale thread, just so i know, what sort of price you asking?

A cheap zed or a show stopper?

It's not a Zed, but my original post was edited to omit details so I think as I'm not subscribed it would be best to not offer any more info.

I was intenting on subscribing when it sold though! :D

A bit late now, but you can go into your account and set it up so that certain bidders are blocked, for example under 10 feedback score, no paypal account etc.

It's not perfect, but helps to keep some of the fools away.

Unfortunately the lowest eBay will block for you is -1 or if they have unpaid items etc. This was a brand new account literally set up the day my auction ended with 0 feedback.

I just don't get why someone would deliberately sabotage my listing. The fellas name and address got sent to me by eBay when the sale was completed, I searched online for the guy and the address but nothing I'd heard of came up.

If he wasn't 100+ miles away I'd be half tempted to drive it into his living room and charge him an additional delivery fee in person ;)

Doh! - your right about the feedback scores. Didn't realize it was that limited. You can definitely block non PayPal holders though, at least on eBay.de.

I had a freelander that I actually managed to sell 7 times, none of the times did the "buyers" even turn up or make contact after the sale. And eBay wouldn't let me leave them neg feedback - just open a complaint case and cancel my final sales fee. They still make the insertion fee though.

Load of pants....

I had someone do something very similar when we put the camper up on ebay last Summer. We had recieved a few offers before the end of the auction close to the price we were hoping for but descided that we would let the auction run its course. We ended up with a bit of a bidding war between 3 bidders until the auction ended with the camper having achieved a very good but fair price.

Emails and details went back and forth for several weeks between us and the winning bidder, until eventually he said that he had no means of getting to my house from the train station. So naturally I offered to collect him from the station. After much "I'll have to see what I'm doing over the next few weeks" type of excuses, eventually the buyer sent an email to the effect that it was too far to travel and the only way he could justify the trip was if I knocked £700 off the price of the camper!!!

We 'politely' declined :excl:

by this stage the other bidders weren't open to a second chance offer as it had been so long since the auction ended, resulting in us losing out on a sale

Shortly after my wife took a phone call from the guy again competely out of the blue, along the lines of "Would your husband accept the price of the winning bid on ebay minus the cost of the train ticket and fuel"......my wife advised him not to phone back as I was not best pleased, to put it mildly

Ebay weren't interested

It's becoming less and less about the money really. I just want it gone. I have a friend who might buy it but money is tight for him right now so he'd need to wait a bit.

I guess I'm just a little impatient :sweatdrop:
