Wanting to change the Mini for something else, was going to go for an E46 M3 but the other half doesn't like them :( Running a highly modded Z32 means I do need to have her 'blessing' for the family car..

Now looking at classic mustangs so I can scratch the muscle car itch, and I'm onto a winner as classic muscle cars are popular with the wife! Anyone know much about them?

Looking at 65-70 Mustang, or maybe early shape camaro's. Challengers etc are nice but far too big. I like the styling and I want a big rumbly v8

Thoughts?

I would say the VXR8 but I'm not sure how well they will hold onto their value but at least the steering wheel isnt on the wrong side

my father in law has had a long line of cameros firebirds and transams(all teh same car uneath interestingly) and several buicks and silly pink things. his freind has a small collection of all things yank. he once asked him how he decided which to drive to each show.

the reply was simple.

"which ever starts first."

the trans am he had most recently a 1978 in bklack and gold, housed a 5.7 litre chevy engine the 6.6 litre block had be swapped out and this tunned little block dropped in. well i can honestly say i loved it and i will be buying one at some point in my life, but as a daily idea, its a no go. once you have one you will realise why, you cant park it anywhere. not only because people will want to steal, scratch or dink it. but because they are huge, they dont fit anywhere, the zed was a fly weight comparitivly size wise. it lived in a double length garage, and took up pretty much the whole thing with about enough space left for a chest freezer. the later 90s ones are a bit easier to live with but no where near as pretty just as probematic and just as juicey. if you want a daily muscle car i think a vette or a new shape mustang are gonna be your best bet. the classic just dont fit down an english road.

Why , when you say you want a muscle car ??:walkman:

Here's a nice one now up for sale in Hereford, the owner test drove a zed the other week which obviously made him reconsider putting his down the 1/4 mile at the pod against the little Nissan

Everyday car and v8 equals vxr8 or a cl 63,not classic yet but will scratch your v8 itch for sure.

Valid points there mate, from a man who has experience !

Tossers will scratch and dink, no matter what kind of unusual car it is I have found ? Came back to my Zed, which I had left for 5 mins with the roofs off to find the seat full of gobs/phlegm/snotters/spit or whatever you call it !!

The size thing is awkward ? I use my Dodge Ram on a daily basis and yes, it is big. Way too big for your average size Tesco parking space !! I just park out ther way, up the back where its too far for most to walk, and its fine. As for being too big for some roads ? Sometimes, yes, but you dont spend all that money on a car like that and expect every day passage ? I have never been stuck !! Even in 19" of snow last year ! Had too breathe in a few times tho, but that ads to the fun !!

Won't be every day car. I live in the middle of Brighton, everything is walking distance and I take the train to work.

Will be in storage with the Zed outside of brighton, kept on charge so will be for day trips, weekends away etc

VXr8 is a no no, and the mercs will loose too much money, thoughthe older CL's are tempting

still need rear seats and a boot! That Camaro is nice Daz :)

pontiac GTO ..in the judge variant if you can get it.....CL v12 mercs are to be had for 8 grand now ...even the bi turbo models.....a V8 6.3 cl also all the bells and whistles....cheap cheap cheap.....and grunt like you would not believe ..big 4 seats all electric and heated , TV dvd sat nav you name it it has it ....

Trans-am............................

If I were thinking US muscle car, then I'd do the same - although I'd go for the 1982-ish version. In black. And do the whole Knightrider thing!!!

Then for classic V8 power, but with the performance and reliability to match, for me it would be the Porsche 928 S4 or Gt/GTS......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Lol ask for a classic muscle car and all these ridiculous ideas come out

Muscle car is a v8 nothing less will do

Classic would put you around the 70s era

mustang fastback would be the ultimate price is anything from 20k upwards

Dodge charger I'd say around the 69 where the lights were covered by the grill

Camaros dont get classed as much of a muscle car but I like them :) the missus has a charger 68 iirc and has good knowledge of classic muscle cars.

Just depends if you want something around the 6 litre shaker hood types or more of a cruiser. There is a couple of magazines on the shelf I have read with plenty for sale in UK or good sites to import from the states

plenty of nice ones over there plus the price is half of the UK ones as they generally out whatever price they want on them waiting for the right buyer rather than actually trying to sell them

Mustang fastback is definitely winning :)

Hemi cuda, dodge challenger or a plymouth roadrunner perhaps, all classic v8 power houses.Or maybe a Cadillac fleetwood Brougham.8.2 Liters.very good in London traffic Lol
