With the window down on my Zed, I can smell exhaust fumes even when driving around 40~50mph.

I seem to remember this on my last zx too, and just wondered if it is an inherent fault to all Zeds?

There's no smoke from the exhausts, no oil dropping onto the exhausts/turbo's and no smoke from around the turbo area?

I have the UK version and wondered if the front outermost lights in the spoiler were meant to be hooked up? Since I don't have fogs, the indicators and sidelights are there instead...

UK cars have dummy side light housing and have the side lights and indicators in place where the front fogs would be if it was a jap spec, so in answer to your question, no the outermost light housing on a UK do not light up.

I to not only got but still get exhaust smell in the cabin, not sure why though considering my exhausts stick out further from my rear bumper than the last ones did, seems to be a strange inherent problem of the 300 unless someone has some information im not privy too with regards to exhaust smell in the cabin.

make sure any aftermarket spoilers, rear lights and tailgate strips are fully sealed.

You might be onto something there, my tailgate doesn't seem to be very tight to the rubber seal when its closed, might be a nice easy cure :)

Ok the tailgate is now firmly tight when closed. The smell doesn't seem half as bad unless the car is 'ragged' a bit. I think it may be running a bit rich as the tailpipes are covered in dry black residue - unless this is just from cold starting?

Mine stinks aswell but only with boost, so i dont drive with my windows open
