Has anyone noticed that thankfully the price of 300zx's is begining to drag its arse up? I was having a browse of whats available and for anything turbo with a manual box the price is at least £2500 and anything thats reasonable is holding a good price.

About dam time as well, I remember selling my last zed for £1500.... manual turbo, leather retrim etc no smoke reasonable miles. That'd be up at 3k these days!

I've long since stopped hoping my Zed will be worth anything when I come to sell it. I'm already in negative equity by about 6 grand on this car. Fook what its gonna be worth, just as long as it puts a smile on my face - which it undoubtedly does.

Yeah but hope for us all yet! At least nice ones are worth more than £1500! :) Of course you never get back whats been spent, but at least wont loose everything lol

Well, wait and see - the economy could be about to go tits up again. The Eurozone looks like the next Titanic movie and the property market is flatter than Norfolk. My guess is any petrol sports car that is heavy on fuel will be worth scrap - if you're lucky.

I hope that prices are on the up - but the cars have got to sell first. Whenever I check pistonheads all the adverts are 'over 15 days'...

I think they are still all over the place tbh, look on autotrader, there is a admittedly nice looking allegedly ultra low mileage N/A auto G reg with the early cloth seats, nearly 6K !

There is also a 97 plate TT manual that sounds good for £3500.

Its a double edged sword really, as owners we would like them to be worth more. I don't understand why a similar aged/condition supra seems to fetch more money, despite not looking as grown up IMO (not that I have anything against supra's, just prefer the Z looks).

But If they were, then I wouldn't have been able to own one ... I still think they are a future classic and hopefully they will start to appreciate in value soon.

At the end of the day someones only gonna pay you what they think its worth so depends on the person.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it's a desirable fast car, so it WILL go up in value, the older and rarer it gets, the more it'll be worth, because people who want one, are willing to pay more for a good example, etc.

Happens with all desirable cars.

For what it is, the Z is actually embarrassingly and obscenely cheap.

I believe the main reasons are:

- too many grey imports;

- too many in poor condition having been in the "wrong" hands;

- too many used and abused, with ugly, down-market modifications. Would people make such mods to a NSX, 911 etc?

If only a handful of Zs had been in the country, loved and cared for by the "right" type of owners then they would be worth 3-4 times today.

The obvious upside is that more of us get to own this fantastic car.

I disagree, all Skyline R32s & R33's are imports, most have had some offensive body 'enhancements' and nearly all of them have been thrashed (surely that's the point of owning such a car - if you don't thrash it, wtf did you buy it for?). Yet still a tatty GTR can be had for 6-8k with a nice clean example 10k and more. Although the GTR is more reliable than our fragile zeds, it still isn't bullit proof and many do suffer from lack of proper TLC. I can't see the difference TBH.

As for the last comment, the fact that they are so cheap just means they get bought by people who think they can run them on a shoe string budget, then run them into the ground and sell them on death's door to the next unsuspecting muppet. And so the cycle continues. I too was a muppet thinking I could buy a 'cheap' 170mph GT coupe. No such thing.

As mentioned above, they're only worth what people are prepared to pay. Note that the two most expensive cars for sale at the moment (Zelda and Sudesh's lovely '99 TT) have been for sale for some time. So too have a couple of low mileage N/A's which have been kicking about for some time. Either the sellers are asking too much, or the buyers are simply not there - net result: car has not been sold. A car is only worth what it sells for, not the asking price.

At the end of the day someones only gonna pay you what they think its worth so depends on the person.

Exactly - but if someone does want to pay a premium for a decent example then they will. A true enthusiast should see beyond the Ebay rubbish at £1000 and pay a premium for a straight, well looked after example.

I know I would......

Richard:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
