Yes and more than likely it will be the n/s one split!

both heater matrix and turbo water hoses are fine,, any other water pipes back there??

yeh there are some sma, ones on the battery side, bout 12mm in diameter. little buggers to change.

You have a plenum water bypass on your engine if its for yours therefore only 4 pipes back there iirc 2 of those being the heater ones

weirdly i think either my theromostat or water pump may be the cause, as the temp gauge sits at 0 then within 1 sec or 2 rapidly goes to the middle.....

and from the water pump i can hear occasional squeeling.....

any insight into this???? may the stat/ pump cause too much pressure causing the water leak at the back.

The stat and water pump are at the front of the engine, if its at the back its either matrix or turbo water hoses.

the leak was caused from a pressure build up, when i open the rad cap i hear the pressure at the back of the engine decrease, would this mean the theromostat or water pump have failed and caused this huge pressure to mount up...

had the matrix replaced at z world not long ago so its not that.

BUMP

is it over heating much? maybe the thermostat isnt opining fully causing it to get too hot and over pressurise.

no dont give it the chance, as it starts i turn it off. and havent driven it since, i am hearing a squeeling from the front of the engine sometimes, may this be the water pump failiing?

Hey Coolq,

Ask this guy if you can borrow his big hammer - reckon that should fix the problem :hammer:

Sorry to hear this bud, seems to be one thing after another for you atm.

You could have a hairline crack in a hose, sometimes these are not big enough to let water leak out of the offending hose, but after shut off they suck in air through the crack, then on next run the engine has excess air in the system allowing it to pressurise and spew water out via the rad overflow.

When i 1st got my zed i painstakingly replaced all the important water hoses, bypassed the unimportant plenum ones, flushed out the water system and replaced coolant, replaced the water pump and fitted a koyo rad. This was an expensive and time consuming task but 10 years later my zedsstill running well on its original turbos with no faults having covered just over 100,000 miles.

It may be case of taking each hose off one by one inspecting and replacing hoses and clips where needed which on a 20 year old car is going to be most of them, and theres no point putting a new hose on using a 20 year old hose clip.

Id recommend the koyo or similar rad to anyone using a stock rad as the capacity and amount of cooling provided by them is many times better than that of stock, and the look great too.

Also to save yourself a bob or 2 on water pumps, I know everyone loves a Nissan part in a Nissan box, but you can buy pattern water pumps for zeds without worry because most of the pattern pumps are made by NPW as i recall (its stamped on the body of the pump) as are the nissan ones (Nissan dont manufacture water pumps) they simply outsource it to a factory to design and build it to their specs. If you stick to the big aftermarket names like FAI, ADL Blueprint, First Line, Nipparts, BGA etc and even QH! you will find the product inside the box the same as the O.E one, HOWEVER one thing to steer clear of and to watch out for is alternative part numbers on some of these, you have to make sure that the one you get is specifically for the Z32 and not an alternative, will fit number. A prime example of this is the Z31 water pum which fits the Z32, all the bolt holes line up etc and at 1st glance looks the same but when you look at the impellors on the reverse of the pump, ther is less on the Z31 pump than there is on the Z32, i can remember off hand but i think the Z32 has one more than the Z31 one and therefore can move more water.

Think ive strayed a bit off topic, but its a handy thing to know when buying a water pump anyway, i know a lot of people love O.E and no one can knock that but there are good alternatives out there you just have to take a good look at what you are buying.

Anyway good luck with your leaks!
