Right having spoken to a lot of you at JAE and heard the obvious concerns in relation to what other clubs had to offer, plus going around and seeing other club stands.

I think for next year ill be concentrating on getting a bit of entertainment going on.

I have a projector so thats not a problem, and also we have sound. but what i was thinking along the lines off was something a bit special.

My friend who i DJ with runs his own DJing business and gets hired out for all sorts of events. and if we can get the correct generator that doesnt induce spikes into the system id like to see about hiring him out on the saturday night. (though if i paid for his ticket im sure he might even do it for free or extremely discounted)

Would also like to throw out there group activities for us as well, like 5 aside football with a soft ball for obvious reasons, or even soft cricket lol especially if we have the same location next year that im hoping we can get, tug-o-war and on the friday night to encourage more people to get there on the friday and spend the weeekend, possible a few drinking games movie night, or something else.

hell we could even do the 3 legged race once drunk!, or even egg and spoon race / sack race anything like that.

So get your ideas down, as i said all will be looked at, some might be used, other might not be so don't be offended if your idea isn't used. it just might not be suitable at the event.

Even going to see about getting some of the JAE staff involved as well, show them that the 300zx.co.uk club isn't just about sitting in a marque talking about how shiny our polished gear knobs are lol

awards:

a lot of the categories were facts, you cant vote on a fact, if we keep the highest milage, oldest zed etc, then get the person filling out the voting form to put down their own milage and car age

we used to have more "best" categories ie best swb, best wide arch, best lwb, best slicktop, best mod, best standard zed, most tidy zed.

How about best sticker award :)

The judging/ prizes thing needs a re-vamp.

Yeah, I missed the judging cards too. I'd still like to know how old the oldest Z was... if it was an 89, If there was some more structure to it and I had known the times, the bonet would have been open for the production number. ... Not that a trophy for the fact would be a proud item for the mantelpiece really lol.

I think there should be a separate JAE competition idea thread but some I thought of were

  • The Axle Stand Award
    - Whos spent the most amount of times on axle stands and made it to JAE.
  • Miracle Appearance Award
    - the one we least thought would make it.

The Garage

I really liked the fact the gazebo was also a garage. It's something that stands out as great club spirit that we are supportive of making sure the Beast was safe and up to standard and help for those mid show mods was there. I just..

A) Wished there was ventalation for the exhaust or the sense to park with tailpipes facing OUT! and,

B) The other end of the tent was opened for an alternative entrance/exit.

The Layout

It must be hard to envisage how the weekend is going to be comfortable when turning up to a blank space with a Gazebo. Where you pitch up is sometimes dictated by locating the most level ground.

I think it was a strange decision to face the opening of the main tent and the cars out onto the dusty road. People turning up and getting out of cars should have been jumped on and told where to pitch up. I think it would have been better if all the tents were together and out of the way rather than spread out.

Suggestions

Something I saw others do that could have made it so much easier is a load of metal stakes in the ground and a perimeter tape to make sure we got the maximum of the layout... and go from there.

Thus in order of priority

  • Tents to one area
  • Main tent to maximum edge of stand with best view point possible
  • The Rest for Cars in front of the gazebo pointed outwards incase anyone wants to show off the boot install

Bring own camp chairs/blankets/beanbags

Supply about 10 plastic chairs, 2 tables, one to divide the garage off, one for food

Some ambient lighting - everyone fetch some el cheapo solar lighting to add to it.

Sound system would be great - no DJ necessary - just a laptop (we have cheap ones that can do the job - if you kill it will beer spilliage we dont care - but not music if its dead lol), bring your own MP3's of fave car sounds exclusively on a memory stick or CD.

PS3 sounds good to me too.

Oh yeah ... and ban Paedo bear conversations

some real great ideas there! name tags / shirts should be a must i think lol. i must have walked past so many people who i 'know' on here but didn't recognize their face lol.

loving the idea of visual displays :-) and i think background music would be a great idea!

the celica club have A4 printed pages for every member to put in their windscreen with username, real name, what makes your car special etc etc, maybe something like this?

hope we get the same spot next year :-)

Agree to all of SexyCrayolas comments, Some great ideas

Loved the spot we were at too, well better than the last few years!!

Funny enough, I visited CCUK most of all being my old haunt ... they had it well sorted out

Forgot to say.. I have a 5kva and 3kva generator that I can lend to the club foc, just getting them there may be a problem? ideas

remember not to book a holiday to bendoirm the same weekend!!! opps. Being a fellow fat man im more than happy to help out with the cooking next year. Never being to the show im pretty limited on what i could offer but maybe some sort of club quiz about zeds and fellow memebers?? a way to get to know each other? is there anywhere local we could maybe go for a club meal? (would help with lack of food). Fancy dresss is always a good ice breaker or even a theme night/day like hawaiian etc?

How many people was there from this club?

Some good points there Rose, the marquee is erected by a company before hand, not sure if its the JAE organisers or our rep who decides where the Marquee goes. The perimeter of our stand was actually marked in white paint. I had visions of everything facing down the site from the road before i got there, but according to rules the marquee or any tents are not supposed to be erected under trees, plus we would be setting up our tents right next to the road, so we would be disturbed by the traffic going past.

Setting of the car positions is always a tough one, we thought the horse shoe was quite a good idea, rather than in a line or rows, but i think it would be good to have some plots on paper as a guide for next year its also dependent on how many cars actually turn up to what will look good.

Why cant they be in a big Z?

If anyone is into Indian food, a good mate of mine has a restaurent in Kettering,

I am sure he would give us a good discount if there were enough of us, and the food is excellant

Really? no choice where to set it up? That was a shame and I think it would be worth checking out. The tents being AWAY from the road was something I did think about and definitely agree.

As I said - not an easy think to lay out from scratch ... but didnt know they'd already plonked the Gazebo up!!

Horse shoe is always good since there must be a reason Americans choose this plan foremost on supermarket car parks... plus it looks good.

Not that i was there, but always thought JAE being the biggest, then if EVERY zed from here had a clip on number plate for the front with the persons username on it, then you'd know who's car you were looking at and who's who!

With the JAE logo on one side and the Forum Logo the other, it also helps promote the club.

I like this idea to:thumbup1: it has been done this year for one of Northern Irelands biggest car club for there 10th anniversery show and it had the club name and user name on it

http://www.reallymeansounds.com/shop/

tbh apparently the conversation started aimed at Pablito as a joke (Because of his job) we walked in half way through. There was a JAE team member sat in there, drinking and smoking (Nothing wrong with either of those things in my book) and carrying on quite heavily about Paedo bear and abortion and rape and blah blah blah, I tuned out to most of it, eventually Rose and I just walked out, Mikey walked out about 30 seconds before we did, Bird and his bird did too, not sure about anyone else as after that we all went elsewhere.

EDIT After reading Andys post: We didn't say anything, for the simple fact there was more than one person enjoying the conversation, however many people in there were looking at each other a little unsure whether to laugh or be offended. We personally were offended and so we left. The problem wasn't paedo bear, as I know what paedo bear originally was and yes I've been involved with conversations about it before, but things like pushing pregnant mothers down stairs and abortions and pills etc. was too far for us I'm afraid.

Ooooh I can't remember that bit!!

I'll tell him off next time i see him for ya! How about that!!

I'm sure he didn't mean to offend anyone.

you cant controll what people talk about, if it offended then you did the right thing by walking away, i hear all kind's of crap from my tennant's, i simply switch off and think no more about it

i hate to agree with andy (we rarely do lol) but there is worse on tv and if i dont like it then i turn the channel over

anyhoo's, look's like some good idea's, hopefully as the year's go on the show just get's bigger

I don't agree!!!

:whistling:

I don't agree!!!

:whistling:

lol you disagree with yourself? That's just how awesome you are! lol :stupid:

Ooooh I can't remember that bit!

.... neither could I ... at least for the next day :pint:

Indeed.............. Friday night Rose and I were pretty *ahem* [HIGHVOICE] wasted! [/HIGHVOICE] so to be fair, we shouldn't have found ANYTHING offensive.

Ahem!... JAE ideas thread :cool2:

It was actually a member of JAE staff, who joined us for drinks that started it off as a joke about one of our members being a youth worker and as usual when drunk, they think its still funny after about 50 times in chanting it out.

That sort of comment will not be tolerated or repeated next year, as i say it was a piss take amongst a handful of people, but for anyone outside of the group is not nice to hear as already stated.

Groover you can not do anything unless the person in question was directing the comment at some one. An overheard conversation is just that - overheard. People can walk away. The persons who where being directly insulted all weekend, me included are capable of taking it on the chin and we are not complaining!!! It's called banter. Some one suggested inviting Roy Chubby Brown can you imagine him live!!!

As Stellaz said, if you don't like it, change channel ( oh no, now you've made me agree with Stellaz!!)

Any way back to the voting form.

How about:-

Your name

Your forum name

Reg no

Year of reg

Mileage

Your postcode

Your journey distance, ferry?, flight? hike?

Please vote for your favourite cars using the reg number

PLEASE NOTE - YOU CAN ONLY VOTE FOR THE SAME CAR THREE TIMES.

1. best paint

2. best interior

3. best engine bay

4. best wheels

5. best exhaust system

6. best 2+2

7. best swb

8. best ICE install

9. best stance

10 . Biggest improvemnet since last year

Plus the other stuff like best member, mod etc.

Reason for no more than three votes per car is that it can include the beast but evens things out a bit.

It may even be worth saying only two votes per car - not sure on the maths!!

What do you think?

Can I just add, I think its a mistake to single out any one Z as a representation of the Club/300zx by putting it in a Marque or by parking it separately from the rest of the club cars as a center piece.

This is nothing against the Beast, its a very worthy show winner, but a car that extreme is certainly not to everyone's taste. By all means park some of the more unique cars in optimum places, but Its also not a good idea to choose a "selection" of what somebody believes is the best cars to park out front on display, separate from the rest, as all it does is make other members feel put out.

Hi mate, the beast was in the tent so Jason could polish it as there was some rain on Saturday and it did represent the club in the JAE show and shine and as for parking at the club site everbody parked where ever they wanted (I moved mine twice)

we parked where we thought it would suite think the stand looked tidy came out well in the pic's

if it helps i could bring down my Xbox next year i have all the forza games mayby fifa and cod we could organise a club Xbox competition
